Thanks in advance.

you can probably get into merced and riverside if you can push your SATI to 1700+ and get around 600 for SATII.

irvine and davis are reaches.

:ibbump:

Also, add Public Library Teen Advisory Council to EC list.

Thanks.

Actually if you look at this link:

http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/undergrad_adm/paths_to_adm/freshman/scholarship_reqs.html

You'll see that you are already UC-eligible based upon your UC GPA and the test scores you've taken to this point. (although you are still required to take the SAT IIs to apply). This means that since you live in-state you are guaranteed admission to UC Merced, and practically guaranteed UC Riverside (also practically guaranteed UC Santa Cruz, if you are interested).

Thus your chances are as follows:

UC Davis--reach
UC Riverside--match
UC Irvine--slight reach
UC Merced--safety
CSU Sacramento--match

Good luck.

P.S. What are you a critic of?

Thanks. Does it change the entire situation if I had a "F" one semester in a mathematics course, but the course was eventually validated?

Critic? Well...lets just say that one member on another forum I belonged to had a habit of calling me one, as I always criticized various things....

"Thus your chances are as follows:

UC Davis--reach
UC Riverside--match
UC Irvine--slight reach
UC Merced--safety
CSU Sacramento--match"

-I disagree with these predictions... uci has a lower acceptance rate and higher stats, both gpa average and sat average. if davis is a reach, then clearly irvine is atleast a reach. i would also call csu sacramento a safe match. calcruzer, do you go to uc davis? can u tell me why you would put irvine as a slight reach and davis as a reach, when davis is slightly less competitive to gain admission too? that doesnt make sense.

Stats to back up my point:

UCSB:
http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/undergrad_adm/selecting/camp_profiles/camp_profiles_ucsb.html

UCI:
http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/undergrad_adm/selecting/camp_profiles/camp_profiles_uci.html

UC DAVIS:
http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/undergrad_adm/selecting/camp_profiles/camp_profiles_ucd.html

UCSC:
http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/undergrad_adm/selecting/camp_profiles/camp_profiles_ucsc.html

-From the average admission stats it seems like davis falls almost directly in between santa barbara/irvine and santa cruz. Davis is the 6th most competitive UC to gain admission too, UCSB is 4th, UCI is 5th. Rankings show davis as the 6th highest ranked UC, irvine as the 4th, and santa barbara as 5th.

The Critic:

UCI/UCD: Slight Reach
UCR/UCM: Match

odd that uci is easier to get into then ucsb, but ranked higher.

yes but davis is easier to get into than uci and ucsb, and ranked lower. so the point of my post was how could davis be a reach and uci be only a slight reach?

Thanks everyone, keep 'em coming. I guess my ECs aren't enough to give me a better chance for UCD/UCI, eh?

well, i think your EC's could give you a better chance. i have a friend with SAT scores almost like yours but she was really good at speech & debate. she won quite a few prizes. she got into UCD while other people w/ higher SAT scores than her got rejected. try to get your SAT scores higher and do well on the SAT 2's. that will improve your chances i think.

Thanks. I'm hoping that my enrollment in an outreach program and regular community service will give me a boost in addition to the leadership and other ECs.

Anyone else ???

bump

bump bump bump

err i think you could get into UCI if you write a great essay. UCI takes in almost 60% of all applicants correct?
