Chances at UCs?

Hi guys,

I have heard of this site from one of my buddies saying it's really helpful. And I would like to wish everybody good luck on their UC apps before I get into my question.

I am currently at a CCC and I had just submitted my app last night. I applied as an Econ major to UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCI, and UCD (the fee waiver was sweet). I am setting my heart on Berkeley so I would like to ask for you guys to chance me on that? THANKS!

GPA:
3.89 (1 B in US History?!?!?!?!?). I am taking 19 units right now including Calculus, Econ and English, etc. Aiming to get a 4.0 this semester and I think that'd get me to a 3.92?

ECs:
- Treasurer for Alpha Gamma Sigma (Honor Society): accounting works
- Member in College Budget Advisory Committee: help with the budget distribution and program reviews for academic departments during this budget cut crisis
- President/Founder for Student Business Association (SBA): provides networking opportunities by having guest speakers from Google, Yahoo and Cisco Systems come in and speak on their experiences. We are also working to form a book exchange forum for students to save money on textbooks
- Senator in Student Government (ASB): student rep. at diff. committees and meetings and I held several activities on campus

Community Service:
- Math Tutor
- Assistance at a Chinese School

That's pretty much it. I am not getting into my work experience because I am sure you guys are having fun right now reading my BLAHS! Let me know what you guys think! Thanks and GOOD LUCK!

Your chance is this good:

|--------------| out of |--| or |------------------------------------------------------------| ?? ha i assume that's a good sign! thx edward04

SIK,

Seriously though, your app looks pretty good. Did you complete all your pre-reqs from assist.org? Sorry if I overlooked that, I just got home from my 2nd Thanksgiving dinner (in laws) and I'm not in a normal state of mind (sugar coma?).

If you have indeed completed all the pre-reqs your school offers, and you write a great personal statement you have a very good chance of being accepted. Hopefully you're already done with it and got a lot of feedback on it. Good luck

Yup!! 2 Econs + 2 Calcs + IGETC. I am not an awesome writer so I had several people looked it over for me (including a CAL admission officer). I'm crossing my fingers! Are you in CAL Edward04?

SIK_DOULA, for the application fee waiver did you have to apply for EOPS?

I'm not sure if that's how you apply for the fee waiver (i checked 'yes' for that box btw)? But I have asked the same question to a UC rep once and she told me the system will ask you if you want to apply for a fee waiver at the "very end." It's based on ur family income (which you already have filled out I assume).

Once again, I know it looks very confusing at first. But if you go to the very end right before you submit it, you'll see everything!

Yes, I'm at Cal. One semester almost down, three to go.

Sik, I graduated Cal last spring and I think what got me in is extracurricular and student involvement. My GPA was 3.86. From what you list, you seem very involved and I would say you have a great chance of getting in. In the personal statement it helped me to mention specific programs/opportunities at Cal that I wanted to get involve in such as The Daily Cal newspaper. I really believe the gpa is great but involvement is just as good and you demonstrate that. Hope you get into Cal because it was the BEST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!

Thanks alot jerwood84. And what's ur major Edward04??
