UCSB should be a high match for you.

How many people does your school send to UCSB each year? How does your UC GPA compare to those admitted?

UCSB I heard does like high test scores so that is definitely a plus for you.

Definitely have a shot. Pretty decent chance I’d say. Make sure to nail essays

UC’s rely mostly on GPA. I’d say it’s a high match/reach depending on your school

I think your UC GPA is a little low, 2015 for SB was 4.05

With a difference of about 0.4 from their typical admitted freshmen GPA, its going to be pretty rough to get in. Your test score is amazing, and compensates a little for the GPA, but it’s known that the UC’s value GPA over anything. With very strong essays, an unimpacted major choice, and some decent extracirriculars, I would consider UCSB a low reach, and possibly a high match.

@lomokuan is economics & accounting an unimpacted major? I understand UCSB is more of a science school

@rdeng2614 I’d say around ~5 kids per year. UCSB isnt too popular among kids at my school since most choose Berkeley over the other UC’s. We had like 21 kids go to Berkeley lol.

@Northwood16 I believe economics and accounting is right about “Medium” for competitiveness in UCSB. It isn’t as difficult engineering for admissions so I would consider it more as an “average major” at that school. Thus, at least a 4.00 UC GPA would put an applicant in a good spot to be considered.
