Chances at ucsb

Hi! I was wondering if anyone could chance me for my top choice school, ucsb. my gpa and tests scores aren’t very good, but I’m still a little bit hopeful.

Unweighted GPA: 3.4
Weighted GPA: 3.6
UC GPA: 3.62

SAT scores: 1250, 1220 (/1600)

EC: -4 years varsity swimming

  • 4 years volunteering at an aquarium (200+ hours)
  • 1 year volunteering at my community church
  • 3 years volunteering with a women’s crisis shelter
  • 1 summer spent volunteering in small communities in Ireland
  • 2 summers spent volunteering with a camp for special needs children
  • 3 years in marine science club (VP for 2 years)
  • 1 year in best buddies (focused on special needs children)

My essays were about my home life (I have recovering alcoholic for a mother), my experience with a deaf child while volunteering at the aquarium, my time spent volunteering in Ireland, and my time at the camp for special needs children.
My intended major at ucsb is sociology, and I live in California.
I’ve already gotten into Michigan state, Oregon state, northern Arizona university, Arizona state university, and cal poly slo. Getting into SLO gave me slight hope for Santa Barbara, but I’m unsure as I got rejected from UCSD last week. Any feedback would be aappreciated, thank you!!

Good job getting into to Cal Poly Slo!! That’s a pretty hard school to get into. To be honest, if you got rejected by UCSD there is a very slim chance of also getting into UCSB. But I do think you have a higher chance of getting into UCSD than UCSB because UCSB’s average gpa is a 3.6 UW. While UCSD’s average gpa is a 3.68 UW.

You have really good ec’s and an essay which sounds good. All you can do is be hopeful and wait for now. Good luck! You should chance back too!

btw your username makes be crack up lol

Since you got into cal poly, you will probably have a good chance getting into ucsb due to the amazingness of your ec’s
