Going to study my butt off this summer to get it to at least a 1900. And am taking Subjects next year ( Literature, And History)

-Going to be volunteering this summer!

Soooo. What do you think my chances are for UCSB?? And what else should I do to make myself more "competitive" hehe

Living in CA gives you a way better chance than OOS applicants. -_-

I'd say you're in already. If you can get your SAT scores to at least 1900 and do pretty decent on your SAT II's, you're definitely in.

How many APs does your school offer? Is their a reason you had fewer honors classes as a junior?

I don't agree with the above poster that you are already in, but I think you have a good shot. Also, I'm not sure how you calculated your GPA, but you should check the UC list of honors classes that they accept as weighted, because I know for a that Eng H 10th grade isn't weighted, not sure about the other ones.

Well, the best of luck, I'm dying to go to UCSB as well :)

yeahh. because i wanted to take chem and trig junior year, i wasnt able to take a honors/ap math or science class. the only ap class i didnt take was history, and that was because of an issue i had sophmore year with the teacher, so it kinda scared me off from taking it haha

Someone on another thread posted a scattergram for UCSB that showed everyone at that school who applied with a 3.5 and 1900 got in last year.

wait whats a scattergram. where is that located? lol

but really? well then maybe i do have a shot :D

note that the 3.5 was UNWEIGHTED.
heres the scattergram: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/523317-chances-ucs.html [post 6, i think]

a scattegram is a chart that shows the number of people accepted/rejected based on their UW GPA and SAT scores.
