hmm...my SAT scores were a bit lower than yours and I got into both schools. I think you should be fine with UCSD and you at least have a good chance with UCLA too.

Here's the basic admitted student stats for the schools in question:

UCLA--average GPA 3.87 UW 4.19 W, average SAT scores of 1289 (629/660)
UCSD--average GPA 3.65 UW 3.98 W, average SAT of 1239 (593/646)

Since you have an average GPA of (I estimate 3.57 UW) and (actual) 3.80 W, and a SAT score of 1470 (800/670), the normal stats would be:

UCLA--Match
UCSD--Safe Match

and the SATII scores real firm these up.

The only weakness in my opinion is that the ECs should show a slight bit more leadership. Any chance of being VP or Pres of the key club this year--and being active in organizing their activities? This would firm up these estimates.

Also, make sure you pick a school as a safety--either another UC like Santa Barbara or Davis--or a non-UC that you know you can get into.

Your sat is a bit above average for both of these schools while your gpa is a bit below average.

UCLA: Slight Reach
UCSD: Match

UCSD is deff not a safe match and UCLA is deff not a match.

This years stats did not change much from the uc cited site's average gpa and sat which were i believe 2004 or 2005. I believe UCSD's 2006 average admit was approx a 2000 sat and a 4.03 GPA. UCLA's 2006 average admit was approx a 2020 SAT and a 4.17 GPA
