<p>Hello all. I am a bit concerned about my college applications, and I have not yet received any word from the schools I have applied too (I intend to major in (pre)-pharmacy).</p>

<p>employment: Dairy Queen: June 2009-Present. I am key holder, has the same responsibilities as an assistant manager (minus the pay lol). I open and close the store, count the draw, help customers, clean, make and decorate cakes. I have saved most of the earnings. I spend some money on gas, food, and senior expenses.

** Describe an activity, interest, experience, or achievement in your life (this could be a book, a movie, or an activity or experience at work, home, or school) that has been particularly meaningful for you: I wrote about how I have grown as an individual and how sports have contributed to my personal growth (From being shy and easily discouraged to confident and willing to try new things).
**How has your family history, culture, or environment influenced who you are?: I wrote about my family ethnicity and the morals that have been instilled in me. Also the fact that my family has brought out the best in who I am, and they have also shown me what I don’t want to become.</p>

<p>I hope It was not a mistake only applying to two schools. I appreciate you taking the time to read my information.</p>

I disagree, she has a fantastic GPA, combine that with a good class rank, six AP’s, and URM status and I think she has a solid chance.</p>

<p>UF has been pushing diversity BIG recently in admissions.</p>

<p>So I would say IN at UCF and FAMU and high match/low reach for UF.</p>

<p>UF is dramatically increasing their admissions standards. A 3.68 is by no means a “fantastic” GPA, and her test scores are not good, to put it bluntly; both SAT and ACT are at the very bottom of the average range. Her rank might be good, but her relatively (and I use the word relative with great emphasis) low GPA and AP scores seem to represent that her school is not rigorous at all. In fact, even with a 3.68, only 7.7% of the UF student body had high school GPAs of 3.5 to 3.74. UF is rejecting kids with SAT scores that have broken the 2k mark, especially in-state applicants. Also, Princeton Review states that race and ethnicity are “not considered”. I highly doubt that this is truthful, but I doubt that diversity is as large of a factor as you make it seem. One last thing is that the original poster seems to have a lack of committment in extracurriculars.</p>

<p>I would really love for the OP to gain acceptance to UF; I’m just being realistic. It’s best for everybody.</p>

<p>I was signed in and by the time i finished my response it logged me out. And what I wrote didn’t save so I’m going to summarize it:</p>

<p>I realize that my scores aren’t at the top end. But i will be taking the upcoming SAT/ACT exams and my scores should increase since I have been preparing for them. Im not shooting for anything in the 30’s a 27 or 28 (1200 or 1270 for SAT) will be just fine for me.</p>

<p>My school is competitive but it is an inner city school and I’d say at least 150 of the students in my class don’t care about school and just breezing by. But I am taking all the honors and AP classes that are available. My only regular classes were health, P.E., and several art classes that I took.</p>

<p>I do work hard and take pride in my work and that’s why my GPA is where it is now and it will increase since I have made straight A’s again this past marking period.</p>

<p>By the way, I don’t have a lack of commitment. The clubs I stopped participating in no longer had a sponsor. There are other clubs that I have tried out but I did not like them nor continued going to the meetings thus I did not include them in my mini resume.</p>

<p>I’m not trying to argue with anyone just providing some more information. I respect and appreciate everyone’s opinion.

<p>You seem to have a 50-50 chance at UF as most kids instate have. I’m extremely nervous about it and I feel like it’s the only school I could actually go to but I know my chances aren’t that great. Your GPA is better than mine but my SAT/ACT score is better however UF favors GPA much more. </p>
