Chances at UF?

I'm currently an IB varsity football captain who works on his family owned dairy in Florida and I show cows and regularly win at these events at the state level.
My stats for school are 3.666 weighted gpa with a 27 act and 1710 sat score (plan on retaking both this november/December). I plan on majoring in ag and was wondering what are my chances? Also if I were to not get in could I go to a place like fsu then transfer if so what would be the earliest time? I'm taking the IB diploma program and have taken multiple ap classes if this would speed up the process.

Bump

If you are planing on apply for fall 2015 than the application deadline is November 1st so you would need to retake the SAT in october.

I’m seeing a lot more UF Chance Me’s lately. It seems the swingers are stepping up to the plate, eh? Good to see some -friendly- competition around. It wasn’t going to be easy after all ;)

Now, before answering your question… There’s nothing wrong with taking the SAT again in November. UF’s deadline for -documents- (Including SAT scores, grades, etc…) is December 31st, so you still have time. Your weighted GPA and SAT are a bit low comparing to UF norm, but nothing’s stopping you from getting an 1800+ next time you take the SAT! It’ll greatly increase your chances.

As for FSU, well… I’d have to say the same, get that SAT up and you’ll be in the clear for both of them (leaning more towards FSU).

Your EC is pretty unique, you could actually base your essay on it! But that’s a different story. Anyways, good luck! If you’re ever in doubt, check out the last batch of accepted/rejected applicants.

Take care.

UF only accepts Junior and Senior-Level Transfers (upper-division students). However, with all of your AP/IB classes you’re likely to be a “junior” by your 2nd year.

About 1/3 of the undergraduates at UF are transfer students! You can also save a bunch of $$$ as a transfer student, by taking classes at a local state university or CC. It’s not a bad backup plan, if you don’t get accepted.

Good Luck!

Thanks for both of your answers! I am going to retake both tests one last time in an attempt to improve them by the deadline. My gpa since freshman year has been increasing and I heard that helps the admission process.

Lastly if I were to pass most of my IB classes this year would it be possible to get my aa by freshman spring semester and if so would it be easy/possible to transfer to Florida then if I don’t get accepted?
My ap/IB classes that will be taken reference
Ap enviro science
Ap psychology
Ap world history
Ap ap us history
Ap English lit
Ap English comp
Ib math studies
IB math analysis
Ap chem
Ib chem
Ib history of the Americas
Tok
IB business management
Ap Spanish
IB Spanish
I think that’s all of them
Sorry for all the questions and thanks in advance

It’s possible, you would need the 60 credits and have completed the required classes.

To update on the status FSU deferred me until March due to me getting a D in Spanish during my junior year due to tearing my ACL in football (D and F’s I hear are automatic defers). I upped my SAT to 1760 and my GPA is about a 4.1 weighted during this semester, but may have 2 c’s. So any update regarding this SAT increase and if I should be worried about FSU?

bump

Anyone able to help with update?

Bump again
