Chances at UGA? PLEASE help!

<p>I am a senior at a high school in Georgia (about 45 minutes away from Athens) and I am applying regular decision at UGA for the fall of 2015 and I would just like to get some opinions as to what my chances are... I am very worried. :(
By the way, I am a Caucasian female, if that counts for anything. </p>

<p>I know that this is awful, but my UW GPA is a 3.29 and my W GPA is a 3.5... when calculated in UGA's standards, my GPA is a 3.4.. As a freshman and sophomore, I clearly did not take high school seriously and did not by ANY means try my best.
However (and this may not mean much), I am a full diploma International Baccalaureate student. My classes during my junior year and senior year have been:
IB Biology
IB Math Studies
IB English
IB Spanish ab initio
IB History of the Americas
IB Psychology
IB Theory of Knowledge
+ an "extra" class of my choice that does not count toward my GPA. </p>

<p>Last year, I received two high B's (87 and 89) and the rest were A's, and so far this year I have all A's, one B (89). </p>

<p>My SAT scores are as follows:
CR: 620
M: 550
W: 620
Combined score of 1170, and a 1790/2400. </p>

<p>My extracurricular activities consist of:
-Senior Class of 2015 Officer (class representative)
-BETA club member for 2 years; during my junior year I was the junior leader of the American Cancer Society team, and this year I am the BETA club secretary, along with being in charge of the Muscular Dystrophy Association Team.
-I was a HOSA member for 2 years (sophomore and junior) and was the junior representative of the club last year.
-IB requires 150 CAS (creativity, action, service) hours that I will complete. (50 are already completed).
-Spanish National Honors Society Member
-National Society of High School Scholars Member</p>

<p>I am having my IB Coordinator and my IB English teacher write my recommendations, as they both know me and my potential very well. I am also getting help from my IB English teacher on the essay portion of the application. </p>

<p>I do realize that my GPA is low and that my SAT scores are not that great for UGA. However, there is nothing but an upward trend in my GPA and I am hoping that somehow the admissions office sees my transformation in the last two years and that they see that I could be a fit for UGA. These numbers do NOT reflect my academic potential, and I am hoping UGA can see that... </p>

<p>UGA is my dream school and has been since I was a little girl. I have worked extremely hard in the last couple of years... I just really want this to happen for me. </p>

<p>If anyone at all could PLEASE give me their opinions... Please no negativity :(
Thank you all so much! </p>

<p>Pleeeaaasseee somebody help </p>

<p>Please :(</p>

<p>Bump!!!</p>

<p>My friend with similar stats and slightly better ECs was deferred. Hopefully you have a better shot there. Don’t give up. I think you have a very good shot. </p>

<p>Thank you so much AP. I appreciate it!</p>

<p>You do mean that they were deferred EA this year correct?</p>

<p>Anyone else? :(</p>

From my research, you could go either way. The waiting is horrible, is it not? Our approach is to have a happy second choice in mind. My son’s stats look a lot like yours. Good luck!!

UGA is going to be tough…when you first wrote this letter back in November, were you applying EA or RD?

I was applying for RD, SouthernHope.

The waiting is absolutely killing me!! Thank you so much for the feedback, jandtshipp. I am hoping the IB diploma and my hard work the last two years may just push me in. Good luck to your son!!!

Update on the post: as I was applying, my family informed me that I have a lot of Native American history and both sides of my family. So, I got to mark on my application that I am white and native American, if that makes a difference.

Also, I finished fall semester with all A’s in IB classes.

Bump… Please someone help me :frowning: I’m so nervous

did you ever get in?
