Back-story: Currently in a community college, looking to transfer out. Seeking an Engineering degree, possibly looking to go to medical school after.

Academic stats: 3.8 CC GPA.(Can up it to 3.85 possibly).
Only a 3.1 HS GPA though.

Extra-Curricular:
-Tutor in math/chemistry (fam/friends)

-Volunteer for two organizations for roughly 1 year and 8 months

-Church "volunteer" for 2.5 years.(can I list this? I have only helped out every Sunday by doing cleaning, serving, organizing a fundraiser, etc. But I don't know how I can verify if asked? We don't keep records at the church, my dad could verify) I don't know though.

-Part time work for my father.

Hobbies:
-Snowboarding
-Weight Lifting

Note: Please let me know if I can get in, and which ones I should omit from my list, because its a lot of schools. I am a resident of Seattle,WA.

List of Schools:
-University of Washington
-University of Illinois Urbana Champaign
-University of California Berkeley
-University of California Irvine
-University of California San Diego
-University of California Los Angeles
-Texas AM University
-Georgia Tech University
-University of Michigan Ann Arbor

Back-Up School.
Washington State University

So which do you think I can get in most likely, and which ones are reaches, etc?

Wisconsin and Michigan will be difficult, especially if you’re out of state for Michigan. I have two questions:

Do you have any standardized test scores?

and

What are your grades like in your strong subjects (math/chem classes)? And at what difficulty did you take them?

I’m not applying to Wisconsin.

And I am a community college student, I am not taking the ACT/SAT because they aren’t needed for transfer.

Grades:
Math- Calc I, II, III; A, A-, A
Linear Algebra- A-
Diff Eq- A
Taylor-A

Science:
Engineering Physics I, II, III: All As
Chemistry I, II, III: All As.

Anything else needed?>

I think you can definitely get into A and M. It’s also a good engineering school.

You can honestly get into all of them given you have finished all of the required classes, and have sufficient credits. And depending where you’re located. Berkley is probably the only question mark.

Just kidding. Just saw you were from Washington. Don’t know about the UCs anymore. Especially Berkeley.

With Berkley off the list, UIUC is probably the best engineering program.

Thanks, FullMetalx.

tseliottt, thanks as well, and my chances of getting into a UC are lower because I am out of state?

My friend just got into UC Davis/UC Santa Barbara with a 3.65.

You have a great shot at all of them, but why you would be foolish enough to pay OOS rates is beyond me.

^UW is my top choice. If I don’t get in, I will go out of state.

Yes, I know the fees are much much higher for OOS, roughly an extra 30K. I don’t want to have to, but if UW is no go, then I will try to go to UM/UCB/UIUC.

I heard UCs give priority to California students. My experience is with Californian students so I dont know your chances for oos.
