I got an 1890 on my SAT:

610 CR, 630 Writing, and 650 Math.

My GPA is an 81. My brother was a drug addict and alcoholic and home was never a good place. It greatly affected me during school and my GPA suffered greatly, but I'm a smart kid. I have a great essay detailing it and hopefully it will help my case. Freshman year I had a 79 GPA because of everything going on at home. Freshman year I could've easily had at least a 90 average.

I'm Jewish and from New York. Does that really help me though in terms of diversity? Only 36 total kids from my school have applied there in the last four years, so great interest by me and lack of interest in where I'm from should help, I think.

I've had 4 summer jobs, and have worked during the school year from 9th to 11th grade, and play volleyball. I also wrote a hockey blog for over a year and moved onto another website to write about the New York Rangers.

I also don't need financial aid.

I know I didn't give a lot of info, but how competitive is the school of Media and will my GPA really prevent me from getting accepted, despite my circumstances?
