Chances at UIUC with ACT composite of 26?

Ive taken the ACT 3 times and my highest composite is 26 with
reading-32
English-27
Science-26
Math-19
Every time I take a standardized test I always score below average on math because it is my worst subject and I always get a 90 in class. I take honors/ap classes, I have a gpa of 3.8, and I participate in a lot of academic clubs. I want to become a physician and to major in biology or psychology at uiuc but I have heard that the average act is 28. What are my chances of getting in and should I try applying for early admission? If anybody has any other reccomendations for good universities in IL/IN/MO (because I live in IL and want to stay close to home) please tell me! Thank you!

UIUC will look at your application holistically. They will look for course rigor. Write good essays and apply to DGS and I think you have a strong chance. There is no early admission. You need to get on their website and do a little homework. Google common data set for DGS and LAS to see the ACT ranges of accepted students.
You could also prep for the math section this summer and take the ACT again in September. Best of luck.

Hey, amy243654, I applied to UIUC last year and was accepted. I’d say that for a science major you ACT score is a bit low, but your GPA seems to be good(better than mine!) However it depends on course rigor
(lots of APs and Honors are essential) as the previous comment mentioned, so I’d suggest trying again or going for the SAT. I’d aim for a 29/30 or above a 2080.
You could also apply to Purdue and Loyola!
Good Luck! Feel free to ask me any more questions about colleges and applying.

Here is the link for the UIUC 2016 admitted freshman profile. Scroll down for College of LAS. This is the middle 50% range.

Since you have taken the ACT 3 times, have you done practice tests so you can see which area in the math section you need to focus on? How about test taking strategies? Are you spending too much time on a question when you should skip it? Could it be the “psychology” of the math section? Like saying internal negative statements, then it happens.

If your family can afford private ACT math tutoring over the summer, then retake ACT on 10 Sept.

Good Luck!
