I’m currently a senior at a public high school in Massachusetts. I have a 3.44 GPA and a 26 ACT score. I’ve been in mostly honors classes throughout high school and currently in 2 AP’s (spanish and psychology). I played basketball, field hockey, and track up until senior year. I’m in the national spanish honors society. I do tons of community service as well. Also, my brother also goes here if that helps. Wondering what my chances look like since decisions are coming out soon and I’m getting very nervous!
What it your weighted GPA, is it 3.44? Your ACT is very average at UMass, but you seem to has several good EC’s and you seem to have taken variety of honors classes and few AP’s which is good. I think you have a shot at some of the less selective major or undecided. The average stats at UMass this year will likely be around a 27+ ACT (28 OOS) and a 3.8 weighted GPA. This being said, you have a pretty good shot with the EC’s that you have as well as all that community service. Lastly you have a great shot if you the GPA you gave is unweighted.
PS- I wouldn’t stress! Things will be fine as long as UMass wasn’t you only college. lol
Also, I would like their page on FB to show interest.
@Greenman57 Thanks for the feedback 3.44 is my GPA unweighted, so hopefully that’ll help me out
@kb0821 - I think that statistically you have a very good shot in that case. I can’t ever give guarantees to anyone on this site. This being said, I think you shouldn’t worry. When I said less-selective programs I was only thinking that you would have trouble the top three toughest academic areas at UMass. I think the vast majority of majors you should have a good chance at with the combined stats EC’s you have.
