Schools: -UNC Chapel Hill: Out-of-state (NY) yes, i know it is an extreme reach but my sister will be graduating early from UNC CH as a junior this year, and my cousin is currently attending as well (does this help at all??). Applied EA
-Wake Forest (reach i think)
-U. Michigan Ann Arbor (reach)
-U. Maryland College Park
-Penn State
-UConn
-U. Delaware
-Virginia Tech.
-Michigan State
-UNC-Wilmington
-SUNY Binghamton (finished app early so was submitted EA, NY resident as well).

Any other suggestions? I am kind of interested in Notre Dame...But should i even bother? Also, I am applying as an undecided/undeclared major, will that make a difference? What would you consider reach/match/safe for me?
All help is appreciated!

I dont really know about the rest. I wouldn't look forward to UNC-Chapel Hill though. Out of state admission sucks. Only 18% are allowed to be admitted out of state.(I think around 12,000 apply out of state). If your really good at an odd sport (lacrosse), or have a very odd special talent it always helps. I say you have around a 5% chance of being admitted. I would try anyway, but be aware that EA admissions has passed and the application fee is $70.

Thanks RellyRell, i sent my application in in october, does anyone know if the fact that i have family members there will help? Any opinions on the others?

I've heard legacies do help at UNC, esp for OOS students. However, with the 'legacy' only being of this generation, it won't help nearly as much as a parent or grandparent who is a member of the alumni association and putting money into the university.

I highly doubt that...its a LARGE school with a lot of applicants...they aren't going to go to the trouble of looking up specifics about relatives, they want to know who you are and what you can do!

Your sister wont matter at all. As far as research, many many many people are involved with research, so that wont help either. The only way that relatives will help is if parents are alumni (they dont even take into consideration brothers and sisters as far as I know). But you never know, your family may have some connections to the admissions officers and they might help.

Wake Forest- Reach. Not a huge reach. Your SAT is about the average WF SAT score, but your GPA may come out to haunt you.
U. Michigan Ann Arbor- See WF, maybe a tiny tiny bit harder to get in since you're OOS.
U. Maryland College Park- Good match. Pretty decent chance of getting in.
Penn State- Very good match. I think you'll get in
UConn- See Penn State. Also, even better chance of getting in
U. Delaware- See UConn
Virginia Tech- See Penn State
Michigan State- See UConn
UNC-Wilmington- Definitely in
SUNY Binghamton- See UConn
