Chances at UNC Chapel Hill? (In state)

Hello! I am currently a junior in high school and am curious about my realistic chances at UNC Chapel Hill. I am a Caucasian male, but I’ve heard that UNC is less competitive for males due to a higher female makeup. Also, I am in state.
Stats:
3.7 Unweighted GPA
4.5 Weighted GPA
5 AP courses taken (including ones still enrolled in for this year)
Of the two completed, I scored a 4 and a 5 on the exams
All other classes are honors level
SAT Score: (1270/1600)(690-math, 580- reading)
ACT Score: (Have not taken it yet)
Rank: 40/340
**Please note that I am going to take the SAT again after 3 months of tutoring, mainly to bring up my reading score (I’m usually a good test taker and was surprised by how low my reading score was)

EC’s:
Varsity basketball player
Varsity golf player
1st chair Alto Saxophone in band
DECA member (award winning)
NHS member
Volunteered at local church assembling meals for impoverished people
Volunteered as youth basketball camp coach/counselor

I plan on applying EA, and have already received some great letters of recommendation from some UNC alumni that I’m close with. I know that my scores will improve, so any suggested goals would be appreciated. Also, my high school is the only high school in the county, and we usually send around 5 people to UNC per year. I am unsure how many apply, but I know finances deter some people. It’s pretty early out to be asking my chances, but any candid analysis would be great. If you need more information, don’t hesitate to ask. Thanks!

raise your CR SAT score and you should be good.

Your AP scores really don’t matter until you get into the college. They just give you credit for classes in the university, so it really doesn’t matter for the admissions process. In my opinion, your GPA and rank are okay considering you are applying in state and all. The thing that will separate you the most is your test score. Aim for a 1500 on that test cause that will substantially raise your chances. Try investing your summer in doing something that is related to the field you plan to apply for also. Your chances go up if you actually show you are passionate for what you plan to go to college for. This ranges from internships, carrying out your own community activities, and so on. Try to get some valuable experience in the field you are passionate about

Update:
Got a 1480 on the new SAT
750 Reading/Writing
730 Math

Also, I got a job working for a catering company.

So, I’d be interested to know how this turns out for you. My son is a current junior with similar stats. He’s also a legacy (very small bump).
