<p>It's pretty hard to get into UNC-CH OOS.</p>

<p>Your SAT is a bit low. Pretty good GPA & ECs. remember that there are other minorities with more competitive stats applying, too.</p>

<p>You need to find a hook or something special about u.......</p>

<p>I think that your grades are going to kill you. I had better grades and more rigorous courseload than you and I didn't get in even as an In state student. Of course you are a minority and that will help but I think your academic performance during your sophomore year is really going to hurt. I honestly don't know what the admissions office looks at but it is a variety of things so I would still take a shot and try to keep those grades up. Good luck in your decision and you still have all next year to decide.</p>

<p>i talked to this irl who had a 4.3 and a 1900 SAT who got in at my school...i have a 4.2 GPA...so hopefully i have a shot</p>

<p>Your ECs lack leadership. Also, your SATs and GPA (your school's weight is huuuge) are a little low for oos. The girl at your school probably had some sort of hook (other than URM--although that helps alot). A guy at my school had a 3.98 (uw) and a 2160 SAT who was waitlisted. I'd say you have about the average chance of an oos person, maybe a little higher because your an URM. Good luck! (btw, it's sophOmore--sorry that annoyed me)</p>

<p>It probably late but for future reference for other OOS URM, you gotta do pretty welll...Three AfroAmer students from my high school got in the same year..general stats</p>

<p>all AP/IB students 3.8+ GPAs, my with 3.89, the others were like 4.2 something and they were IB students..we did pretty well on APS 3,4,5s</p>

<p>Anyway considering what you have you, you need to find your angle/hook...besides that URM, b/c others with better stats are applying and looking for scholarship money. You need to know someihtng about UNC, and why you wanna go there, and convey some of that. You need to have awesome recs and awesome essays. You also need to answer their essay questions well, and let htem know what YOU can do for UNC. We are a very student-run campus, you have to be a leader, its what they are looking for in their out of state applicants.</p>
