Hello, I am currently a rising senior with a 3.75 GPA and a ACT breakdown of 33-E,32-M,32-R,33-S, 32-C.

I could take the ACT again or I could keep my scores right now, but what are my chances at UNC (Out of state), UGA (in state), NYU, University of Michigan, Northwestern, UVA, and University of Washington.

Feel free to recommend any other schools, I am undecided but am interested in Journalism. I could potentially go to any school. Also feel free to give any tips on how to strengthen my application. Thanks!

I have a solid amount of volunteer hours, I have climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, backpacked in Bolivia and Peru, I play piano, and I have some legacy at UNC and NYU.

Don’t include the pricey vacations on your application. It will make you seem privileged and hurt your chances at admissions.

I think it’s beneficial to mention that I climbed Mount Kilimanjaro.

Your ACT is good but your GPA is a bit low. That may hurt your chance at UMich.

@billcsho thanks for the advice . Any tips on the other schools posted ?

Bump. Please help.

Sounding priveleged isn’t bad for NYU. It tells them you can afford it without financial aid. So they can suck you of as much as they can get.

Umich would be low reach due to low GPA and slightly above average ACT for an oos student.
NU is a reach.
UGA safety to low match.
