accepted congratz

I would say that you're in based solely on the fact that you know the school ignores/ is distru s t f u l of the writing section. I think, buried on the thread that admissions officer Libby Pearson was writing on, she specifically said that they never see it.

Check out my thread on advice for the common/uncommon essay-- having been there, done that, and read many of my friends' common and uncommon results, I can tell you that your creative writing skills are going to come in handy, but don't let syntactical flourish overwhelm your thinking and your creativity.

I think that you are in. You sound like the kind of person that they are looking for- someone who really wants to go there and has the ability an interest. Do the interview. If you live close enough, or can get there, visit. Get your application in early as possible, so that they have time to really pay attention to it. If your recommendations can say something about intellectual curiosity, it would be great. But, I know how that goes- most people can only obtain generic teacher/counselor ones. It's not as big a deal as with the Ivies.

On that note about teacher recs-- I would talk to my teachers about what I wanted my rec to point out. (My mom is a hs teacher and LOVES when students suggest topics to write about for their recs, because often she wants to help them get into college and she doesn't know where to begin writing!) Don't be too pushy, but if you provide a list of your strenghts/your resume, it will help your teacher write an interesting, informed recommendation.
