Chances at University of Illinois Computer Science

Hello, I am going to be a senior next year at a public high school in Illinois. I would really like to study computer science at U of I, but I have heard that it is getting increasingly competitive. (7.5% acceptance rate!). Can anyone help me out with chancing me or giving me areas of improvement?

Objective:
SAT I (breakdown): might take next year
ACT: 35 (first try) also taking it on June 11th to try to get perfect
SAT II: none
Unweighted GPA: 4.0
Weighted GPA: 4.44
Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): 1/223
AP (place score in parenthesis): AP Computer Science: 5 AP World: 5 AP Physics 5 Lots of other APs taken last yr but results haven’t come out
Senior Year Course Load: AP Macroeconomics AP Microeconomics (self study) AP Chemistry AP Government English IV etc
Awards: Lots of comsci awards for research/science fair. Planning a research project for senior year hoping to go to ISEF

Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): Model United Nations, Math Team, Science Olympiad, WYSE
Job/Work Experience: Burger King :slight_smile:
Volunteer/Community service: 300 hours volunteering (hospital, library, special olympics). Online web design volunteering for United Nations
Summer Activities: Lots of volunteering, self studying,
Cross Country and Track Captain (1-4)

Have associate degree of science (done in high school)

I think you’ll be a very strong candidate!! Great grades, ECs it seems and ACT score.

@java23 UIUC has many options when applying for Computer Science. I remember when I applied last year, some options were Computer Science (I believe within their Engineering School), Math + CS, Statistics + CS, and I want to say Astronomy + CS. I heard that Math + CS and Statistics + CS majors get recruited just as well as CS in Engineering majors, you my want to look into this more. I was admitted into Math + CS with about an equivalent SAT score of your ACT score level, much lower grades, and maybe stronger extracurriculars (a lot depends on how how you present your extracurriculars and what you actually accomplished in them).
