? please.........

You need at least a 1300 to be sure of admission. Boost the SAT score by A LOT!

Hmmm. I'd say Miami is a slight reach or a high match, but what do I know? Being Asian-American with low SATs will hurt you, but there are so few Asians at UM, that it might help you so its hard to say. Right now, I say bump up those SATs to around a 1250 for guaranteed admission. I also recommend interviewing. Thats what I think got me my full ride because my SATs werent anything stellar (2040), but I had killer essays, 4.0 uw, and a really good list of ECs. I turned down Miami for W & M by the way.

Roberto42, I believe you would have been accepted to UM anyway. Yours scores and grades are impressive and exceed UM requirements.

I entered my stats at collegedata.com to give me my chances of being accepted to UM and it said good match. So I am really confused because some people are saying my scores are not good enough but I guess I will just go ahead and apply after I take the SATs one more time. I guess over the summer I am going to be studying a lot.
Thank you all for your input. Feel free to add more.

I think people are saying you are a competitive applicant, but to be sure of an admission, you should bring the score higher than a 1200. Also I believe colleges will begin to start weighing the writing section a bit next year. Also I believe the average scores for Um are in the 1200 range. Just bring your score up by 90 points. Just study for fifteen minutes everyday in the summer. Also if you want money bring your score higher than a 1300.

gotnos, Early Action requires zero commitment on your part. Early Decision does. If the xiggi method helped 80 points in one testing, I can almost guarantee you that you will continue to improve with more work of the same type. Good luck.

Early decision is the way I am applying. Sorry for the mistake.

I thought miami only has early action not early decision. I applied early but under the early action plan.

Your SAT score, is that out of 1600 or 2400!?!?!?!?!?!? Because if it is out of 2400 you are SCREWED! My sister is in 7th grade and is smart but not brilliant and managed a 1600/2400. Not to bad... but if you have a 1100/2400 and your 17 or 18 you should look at some CC. No....actually you could get into some state schools. Your other stats look great thought!?!? How could you be so smart but do so poorly on the SAT's!!??!?!?!? Try for UM but dont count on it. Maybe if you apply to UM Early Decision you would have a better chance. Retake the SAT's and try to score alot higher!!! eVEN OUT OF 1600 IT IS A BAD SCORE. Sorry for typing big but caps lock:( Good luck. I am sorry for being so harsh.

talk about being nice................and i think you should check your sister, i think shes too! smart for her age.

Fsu-uf: Actually a 1600/2400 is about average for the students who are selected to take the SAT in 7th grade (I took it through some program at Duke, don't know about mitchellheckman). When I took it I got a 1000/1600 and that's around average. My friend got a 1230/1600, now SHE'S a genius.

My score is out of 1600. I am not stupid. If you looked at my grades and how many ap exams I have passed you would know. It's just stress. Try to be in my shoes and then you will know. So dont judge me
