Ok I'll make the story short...

I was born and raised in Miami. Moved to Cali my senior year in high school and am now a freshman at a junior college in Cali. I want to transfer next fall with 30 credits done, but right now I only got 15 complete...

College GPA (15 credits): 3.6
High School: 3.2
Major: Advertising (School of Communications)

EC's:
Had two jobs last year (senior year)
Marching Band Senior Year
School Paper
TV Production
Key Club
Community Service at a kids center when I was a sophomore

I'm not asking if I'm a lock, but do I have a shot? The average GPA they accepted was like a 3.48, and I'm above that but only having 15 credits hurts.

My family has never gone to college so no legacy and I'm white.

yes, you'll have a shot but your not a lock

do u have sat's?

If you want to go to Miami, fill out an application. It's worth a shot. You'll regret it if you don't.

They'll need your SATs since you have so few credits, but I applied with 65 credits already and 3.94 gpa for transfer this spring and was literally accepted the day after my app said complete online. It is very easy to apply since you need nothing extra but a single rec letter and no essays, so you might as well. I mainly applied because I was able to talk them into taking my fee waiver so it cost me nothing (plus I am in state and love coral gables), but in the end they gave me no where near my EFC in FinAid (they gave me about a half ride, but my EFC is <$500). Their FinAid is not the greatest because the endowment is small, and I am expecting significantly more from cornell. Keep that in mind if you have a lot of financial need.

MattG728,

What school do you attend now? A 3.6 at one college is looked differently than a 3.6 at other universities. They say 3.4 GPA, but they do seem to accept kids with GPAs as low as 3.0s for transfer. Also, I find that Spring transfer is easier.
