I am a current senior and I am planning on applying to the University of Notre Dame early action. Notre Dame is my first choice and I was hoping someone could give me my theoretical chances. I'm a female with an intended major in mechanical engineering and minor in econ/business.
I go to high school in Indiana where I have a 4.0 GPA unweighted, and I'm 1 out of approx. 400 in my class.
Because of the options offered at my school and the way our schedule is with trimesters I will have taken 7 AP classes by graduation [Junior: AP Chem (3) and APUSH (5), Senior: AP Calc, AP Lit, AP Physics, AP Gov, AP Bio] and all other classes are honors.
Varsity soccer 4 years --> 2 years as captain
Varsity tennis 3 years --> 1 year captain
Member of my city's Mayor's Youth Advisory Council
Commended National Merit Scholar
Hospital volunteer
Actively involved in my Catholic community
Kick-Off Mentor to freshmen --> 2 years
Business Professionals of America member --> first place at Indiana State Leadership Conference for economic research project (individual) and member of first place Fair Trade team at BPA Nationals
Member of the social studies academic team --> 1 year captain
Student Council member --> 4 years
Founding member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes
National Honor Society
Part-time employee at Ritter's Frozen Custard
Without studying, SAT: 2050 (Math:660 Reading: 670 Writing: 720), ACT: 32 composite
I'm retaking both in the fall.
I just want to know if I have a realistic shot at this point. Thanks for any responses! I really appreciate it.

If you get at least 2100+ on the SAT or 32+ on the ACT, you’ll have an extremely high chance :)

Thank you!! Do you know the chances for early action versus regular action?

I will give you feedback based on my D’s stats. Like you, top of her class, albeit at a small school (65 in her class). Took the most demanding classes offered, worked at ND the summer between junior and senior years, Catholic, 3 sport varsity athlete, lots of school leadership, mission work (that was truly work, and not a boondoggle), great essays (especially her “Why ND?” one), excellent recs (teacher and counselor were both Domers), 2250 SAT. Applied early, was deferred. Maintained contact with her regional rep throughout the winter, was ultimately accepted and will be leaving for South Bend in a few weeks. She knows that in spite of her fantastic resume, she was very fortunate to be admitted, as this was a very tough year to get into ND. I would say really prep for your retakes, write thoughtful, interesting essays, and pray. Then pray some more. I think you have a good shot, but make sure there are other schools that you can see yourself attending. If I can help any more, please PM me. (BTW we are from Indiana as well.) Good luck!

ejcclc thank you so much for your response! Congratulations to your D on her acceptance! I know that my test scores aren’t high enough, but I’m retaking both in the fall. I’m just really worried about the supplemental essays this year because the topics are so broad and it’s easy to sound clich

You can do it as long as you raise your SAT!

Solid application and grades.

Chance me back?
