Chances at University of Washington?

SAT: 1820
ACT: 27
(I took the SAT Subject Tests but scored really poorly, so I didn't submit them)
GPA: approximately 3.5
Rank: 2nd decile (top 20%)

I don't have any APs, but I have two years of Honors English as well as a bunch of college courses (English 1A, English 1C, French II (dual-enrolled), History 17A, Music 11 (History of Jazz & Rock), Nutrition, English 18, CMST-54 (Small Group Communications), and Math 14 (Statistics).

I have a lot of Extracurriculars: Link Crew, Junior Class Vice President, Student Senate, College Connection, College Connection Senate, Key Club, Interact Club, Rotaract Club, Cheerleading, Ski Team, etc.

Also, I participated in Summer@Brown last summer, which allowed me to live and study on the Brown University campus in Rhode Island for about two weeks. It was an incredible opportunity that taught me so much. This is what I wrote one of my essays about.

My other essay was about the troubles I went through being diagnosed with Hypothyroidism. It was the process of being in and out of school to go to doctors appointments and the effects that it had on my social life as well as my education, etc. I know this is kind of a boring topic for admissions people to read, but it played a big part of my high school experience and it really impacted who I am.

Volunteer experience: I volunteered at a local hospital for about two years and earned about 200 hours of volunteer experience.

Also, I am from California, so I am an out-of-state applicant. Female. From a public school in a rural area where not a lot of people go to college.

Also applied to a bunch of UCs, Brown, Duke, UNC, Boston College, and Vanderbilt.

Thanks!

I’m from WA and I know UW is accepting a lot more out of state students this year, for various reasons. But I think you have a solid chance of getting in especially if those essays are solid! Good luck it’s an awesome school!

Okay, thanks for your input!! :)

Anyone else? Please :o UW is my first choice, and I’m going craaaazy waiting!!! I’d love to hear anything you all have to say!!!

Oh btw 99% chance you won’t hear until April, which sucks I know…

Whaaaa? April??? Noooooooo! They’re website says March 15th-31st, and I was kinda hoping to hear close to the 15th than the 31st…

Maybe they just make us in-state students wait the longest then haha because nobody up here ever hears until the last minute!!! But you’re probably right then, hopefully you hear early

Ugh hopefully, I don’t know if I can wait that long!! Haha

Buuuuummmp
Everyone, PLEASE give me your opinion. It would be greatly appreciated. :)

Bump!
Come on, guys!!! Let’s hear some feedback!!

Your GPA is a little on the low side but your ACT is about right for this school. I don’t know how important ECs are at U of Washington, but they look good, too. It’s just that GPA that might be a little problem, but probably not. Good luck to you.

I know, I didn’t do very well in Chem and Algebra II Junior year, and it affected my GPA quite a bit. Thanks for your feedback!

Buuuummmmmpp
