Anyway, I'm looking at UChicago, the University of Rochester, Swarthmore, SUNY-Buffalo, University of Toronto, Bates, UDel...

I honestly don't know much about admissions to the University of Rochester, Swarthmore, SUNY-Buffalo, University of Toronto, Bates, or UDel...but I think you have a really legitimate chance at UChicago. Although it's a very competitive school, they put a LOT of weight into the application essays, and with your linguistic skills and life experiences, you could really make them superb. I'd say you have a good shot there - however, you should keep in mind that UChicago also emphasizes a liberal arts education with a pretty hefty "core curriculum", so you won't be able to stop taking math/science classes or anything like that.

Is your high school competive, average, or below average? A lot depends on your SAT scores. But, also, in your case, how well you package yourself, and how you present yourself in the application will make a difference. Many schools are fascinated with students who like the classics. You have strong credentials there. You have the leadership. I agree with JimmyEatWorld711- U Chicago is a strong possibility. I also think that you will do fine at U Rochester. Check out some others- Rice, Brown.

My class is relatively small, I think it has about 300-350 students currently. My school is fairly average, I suppose. The reason my class rank is fairly weak is because I get no extra GPA points for taking AP/honors courses, so people who haven't taken any such classes are ranked higher than I.
And, OneMom, my projected SAT scores are between 760-800 for both writing and verbal, and probably around 600-650 in math.
I am especially interested in Chicago and UofR.

Yeah, I'm a hopeful Chicago EA-er with an approximate 3.3-3.4 right now, but with 1600/800 x5. My hook is Carnegie Hall. But I think, the way you're situated with your Debating/Latin, if you do well enough on your SATs you should be fine.

hysteron chicago is a HUGE reach UofR is an excellent place in fact if you go into liberal arts, engineering, or medicine it is one of our nation swathmore is also a reach but i think the others are accessible

Histerion hasn't even taken the real SAT yet, too early to say Chicago is a huge reach. I think they love to admit people with a passion for the classics. Also, the weighted GPA would be higher. And first ever in the family to attend college. No, I don't think it's a huge reach, especially with great essays and an interview.
