Felt essays were really good (both common app and penn supplement)

Got a rec from my AP World teacher who I’ve known for 4 years. Feel like the rec was pretty good.

Got a rec from my BC Calc teacher who’s English is not that great. Feel like the rec was decent.

I got a supplemental rec from my lab mentor, which I looked at and can say was really good.

Asian male from the Northeast.

Thanks!!

Your record is amazingly similar to my daughter’s (even in details) who applied last year. Not to dishearten you (as you should know it is a crapshoot), she was rejected! Having said that, your record is amazing and your chances are as good as any top applicant!

You are a strong condidate. However, I am not sure what you mean you worked at a hospital in 9th and 10th grade.
My D could not volunteer (not work) in my city hospital until she was in 11th grade. There was age restriction. And she could not volunteer more than 5 hours per week.

I should’ve said volunteer. I was kind of like a customer service representative, working for around 4 hours a week.

Is there any way to approximate a % likelihood of getting in early decision? Just kinda curious.

I also got national merit semifinalist and took some MITx biotech courses, if that really means anything!

Your stats are impeccable… I’d be very surprised if you were rejected. Not gonna list all the strong areas of your app but it’s very strong overall

thanks SylvRst! Could you say the same about a deferral, or is that a lot more likely?

I think you have a 60/30/10 chance. 60% getting in/30% deferred/10% rejected

I would say you have a 25% chance, which is triple the average applicant.

@ClarinetDad16 the SEAS ED acceptance rate is only 8.3%?

Damn i thought it was a lot higher.

I don’t know what the ED rate is for each school, but if you are not a legacy, not a recruited athlete, not a special development case, etc. the ED rate unhooked is not far different than RD unfortunately.

I am none of those things unfortunately. Thanks for your input!

@asapdan Sorry you never @ me so I didn’t see your reply. I agree with @girl1425. It is likely that you will be accepted, but there is still a chance for a deferral. Penn values ED applicants for their commitment even if you’re not a legacy/recruited athlete. So your chances are definitely better than applying through RD

I was really dubious about my chances considering how competitive it is, but thanks for the perspectives! @SylvRsr, I sure hope you’re right!

@asapdan It is extremely hard to get into schools like Penn (<25% acceptance rate for ED) but your stats are also amazingly good! You’re welcome and good luck

For those who browse old change threads, as I did before applying, I ended up getting rejected ED. Guess I just got the short end of the straw.
