Chances at UPenn- Wharton?

What’s up, guys!

I’m a rising senior and trying to figure things out right now. I’m really interested in one school (not UPenn, only because I feel like UPenn is such a reach it’s not worth trying) but I feel like I might reconsider applying ED to Penn if I knew I had a decent chance. I would be applying to Wharton I don’t want to apply ED if it’s a lost cause, you know?

Anyways, here’s my profile:
UNWEIGHTED GPA (Averaged over last 3 years): 3.71 (Freshman- 3.77, Sophomore- 3.6, Junior- 3.70)
WEIGHTED GPA (Accumulated over last 3 years): 4.44

2 APs this year (BC Calculus, English Lang & Comp). I’m taking 3 next year (Spanish, Comp Sci, English Lit & Comp). I took AP World History last year and AP Human Geography as a freshman. I took one CP (regular level) class this year (physics) because my school only offers that or AP Physics and I couldn’t do the AP, and I know that definitely looks bad, lol.

Extracurriculars:
Varsity Volleyball for 3 years (next year included, Freshman team in 9th grade
Cooking Club President
JSC Member
Mentor/Director of Freshman Mentoring Program
FBLA Treasurer
Academy of Finance
Volunteer at Local Farm for 6 years
Student Representative on School Governance Council

Honors:
National Honors Society
Spanish National Honors Society
Business National Honors Society
2 President’s Volunteering Awards
Highly selective Academic/Sports Scholarship Recipient
Book Award from The University of Rochester

ACT Composite- 30 (Taken twice, below is the highest score from both tests for each sections)
Math- 33
English- 33
Reading- 32
Science- 24

Someone please give me some feedback, and don’t be afraid to be brutally honest. I really want to know if it’s worth the time in applying.

Oh and I’m a female minority. My essay will most likely be about my heritage and how I got to learn about it as I grew up. Sounds boring, but I’m gonna make it pretty lighthearted.

I’d say why not! I think you’ll be on the lower end of ED if you have excellent essays and recommendations. It’s an excellent program! Have you toured it? You’d be surprised how you feel after. I toured some better schools (in rankings) than BU thinking I’d want to go to an Ivy school and I realized how much I didn’t want that kind of school. I’d say first determine if Wharton has a chance with you before finding out if you have a chance with Wharton! Happiness is key!

Also try to raise your science score by 3 points with the September act! Also what state are you in? Sometimes state residency can be a big help with the Ivies

I’m in CT so my chances are low since I’m close by. I really love BU and that’s definitely my first choice at the moment, but if you can get into Wharton it’s one of those things where the opportunity is too great to pass up.

Out of most of the kids applying, your numbers put you on the lower end of the spectrum sorry to say. Your ECs are okay, if you get to be a captain of Volleyball team than that would help. I would say you need to write AMAZING essays with great letters of rec to have a good shot. As you said, stress your own personal circumstances. Good luck!

You are a minority but are you an underrepresented minority?

I’m 1/2 Cuban! That’s going to be a primary focus in my essays (I’m not writing about it to increase my chances though, I have things that I want colleges to know about me from reading my essays about my heritage)
