Thanks so much in advance!

ccmbr006,

Congrats on your interest. I'd say you're solidly in the "match" category. Write a good essay and, without getting your hopes up, I'd sya you're chances are pretty good.

I heard USC is imposing a strict "must have 4.0 GPA" policy on incoming freshmen applicants. I don't know if it's true, but it kind of makes sense since admissions are getting more and more competitive every year.

^ uh dude...he put his UNWEIGHTED gpa. not his weighted. Weight can easily be over 3.75 gpa.

ccmbr006 : match. easily match. if you ger rejected, immediately appeal cuz u have better stats than me and I got in.

May I ask what major you're applying for (if you have one)?

I'm applying for History (my strongest subject).

So if we don't have 4.0's, should we bother not to apply?

Dont believe the 4.0 GPA restriction... That is rediculous and USC in not stupid enough to make a rule like that... I got 3 scholarships (Presidential, Engineering Merit, Merit Research) and I BARELY had a 4.0 weighted...

Apply if you love the school! (and you should...because it KICKS ASS!)

FIGHT ON

Yeah, the 4.0 restriction doesn't sound right.....besides, I got in with a 3.9 Weighted!

Oh ok, I'm only at a 3.8 w, but it should go up by next semester.

Yea I don't think USC would impose a minimum 4.0 GPA policy. USC doesn't admit people strictly based on numerical scores...unlike some other schools...:D

I had a 3.88 UW gpa, and far worse SAT scores. You should be fine. I also had Eagle scout and OA.

the whole 4.0 thing is just what I heard from my friend who is a junior and knows a few people in admissions. he could be making it up, so i dunno. i'm already in so i don't care about any new admissions standards (unless they affected grad. students since I might want to do my masters at USC).

This URL shows the statistics for the entering class of 2004. About 30,000 applicants with an average 3.73 gpa. Of those admitted, their gpa was 4.09. And of those matriculated, their gpa was 4.0. However, I cannot find where it defines GPA on the website. It could be weighted or unweighted. I think you need at least a weighted 4.0. Personally, I think an unweighted 3.8 and up is competitive. Now, these statistics are about a year old so I must assume the standard has increased with everything else.
