What are my chances of getting into the University of Texas @ Austin. I'm a Senior this year, and i'm planning on attending UT Fall of 2009.

» Class Rank: 51/406; 11 off Top 10 Percent

» Junior AP Classes: AP English III , AP Chemistry, AP US History, AP Computer Science

» Senior AP Classes: AP English IV, AP Calculus, AP Computer Science II, AP Statistics

» SATs: 1800

» Extracurriculars: Varsity Tennis, NHS, Student Council, Community Club, Leadership Group, 100+ community service hours.

I'm applying in the major of Liberal Arts: Government & Geosciences so it increases my chances of getting into UT. I'm pushing very hard this semester to get myself back in the top 10 percent, i'm retaking the SAT hopefully to get a higher score. Please be honest and tell me what my chances of getting into UT is, please and thankyou!

I think if you retake your SAT's to 1900-2000, you'll be all set. Bringing your class rank up would be nice, but I don't think colleges will care too much if you're a bit out of the top 10%. :)

definitely push this last semester. im pretty sure 70% of the kids at UT were in the top 10% of their respective graduating classes. if you cant make the top 10, bring up your SAT above 2000, liberal arts is a good choice. id say its a 50/50 chance.

1) go to UTSA or Austin Community College for a semester
2) retake the SAT while you're there
3) transfer into UT Austin School of Undergraduate Studies
4) sophomore year, transfer into whatever school/college you desire

^it's pointless to retake the SAT once you're in college because UT doesn't consider high school grades and SAT/ACT scores for transfer admissions.
