essays should be excellent, recs should be good also

any feedback would be GREATLY appreciated! i know my GPA isnt that great but i'm hoping i can make up for it with my essays, and my SAT IIs should be pretty good. please let me know what you think!

I think that in-state, UVA is a complete and utter safety. Additionally, you definitely fall in the upper third of the published avg. SAT range for BC. Cornell is one of those fickle schools that is not really a safety for anyone. However, I think you stand a good chance. Good luck :)

Do not listen to above poster, you have solid chances, but UVA is not a safety but a match, and Cornell isn't a safety at all, probably a reach.

Not applying ED anywhere isn't a big mistake. If your top choice doesn't have ED, or you aren't in love at any place, or your family has financial obligations, you can't apply ED.

You seem like a well-rounded person, having jobs, doing many sports, and good ECs. You have great SATs, but your GPA is low compared to other applicants.

I'd say that Virginia is a good match for you. You should probably get in there. Your test scores are near the 75% mark, and you are in-state. Cornell is hard for anyone, and your GPA will hurt you additionally there, so it's of course a reach.

Maryland is basically a safety for an applicant with your stats. You should be accepted there no problem.

I also think you should get into Boston College, even though it has a low acceptance rate (32%), you have test scores near the 75% and your GPA isn't that far off their average.

But with the quality education and price at UVA, why go OOS to a private school? Even if you get into Cornell, consider UVA. It's not worth spending 4 times the amount of money for Cornell when you could get the same type of education at UVA.

everyone at my high school who did ED to UVA just found out if theyre in or not... i reeeaaally want to go now. honestly do i have a realistic chance with my low gpa? my friend who has a 3.71 has the lowest GPA (shes white, some other groups had different stats) accepted into UVA from our high school in the past three years. im just hoping my SATs will save me? please respond, im starting to go crazy. (especially if youre familiar with NOVA and how freaking competitive it is!) thank you!

Don't worry. You've done all you can. This is why you apply to safety schools, so you have a place to go if you don't get accepted into your school of choice.

You are an exceptional student who will be alright wherever you go.
