I was a Bloustein Scholar for NJ? does that count as an award? haha

UHH...I don't know what else to put. Well I'm planning to apply for economics hopefully...transferring into business after that...uhh...

My Ecs are pretty horrible, I'm not even gonna lie. My GPA is average. My ACT scores are alright. I know I have one excellent recommendation from my english teacher. Being out of state sucks too. And being asian sucks too. How much of a chance do i stand at getting in?

how do my chances look at Boston College (was deferred for EA), Lehigh, or NYU?

ha, sure the Bloustein is an award! but i think you're slim for UVA OOS. better shot at Lehigh. maybe BC and NYU, but you need to put some passion in your application. is your high school known as a rigorous one? that may help. good luck!

Lehigh is a safety. I know someone who got in this year with stats nowhere near yours (he applied ED, not sure how much that boosted his chances)
In at NYU too. Boston College may be a slight reach. If you weren't asian, you would probably have gotten in. Did you write that you were asian in your application?

lol yeah i put i was asian. DARN. haha. Being asian stinks =P

thanks for the input. I know UVA is a reach so I'm wondering whether I should even attempt to apply there.

HOPEFULLY i get into either Lehigh or BC since those are my top two.

No myschool isn't konwn as a rigorous one at all...there's only a couple taht actually go to a prestigious school every year...and the rest go to rutgers or like tcnj or...ramapo college.

UVA likes NJ, so go for it! (if you can stand the lengthy application!) best of luck!

haha. It is a veryy lengthy application.

Thank you =)

i think if you were in state you would be fine, but OOS is EXTREMELY competetive and the competition is much tougher (not to say that it isnt tough for In state though). Also being asian especially works to your disadvantage at UVA. They are trying to weed asian students out becuase there is such a high proportion of them at the school compared to the state. Some advice- proofread the crap out of your essays. I visited and they talked about ho important the essays were for like 30 minutes. I would still apply, because anything can happen, but I wouldnt get too hopeful. I would say ~30%. But you have a pretty good shot at BC and a real good shot at lehigh so hope that helps

Best of luck though

yes! they're big on good, effective, concise essays! they'd once told our guidance counselor in answer to his question, "how can i get some students in here?" they said "do the essay like a NIKE commercial...JUST DO IT"! ** that worked for my now graduated, OOS d.! ** good luck, viva!

yeah I'm starting to think if getting that rejection from UVA is going ot be worth the work I put into the application.

lol thanks I'm crossing my fingers for myself too.

At least I still have two schools I feel I will definitely go to if I get in (which hopefully I will).

I'm having a feeling I probably won't get into BC regular since they only accept ~20% of the EA applicants in regular decision...is that true?

lalalallaa...I've applied Lehigh ED btw...is there any chance of me getting a scholarship?
