Chances at UVA plz.

I did a chances thread for William and Mary, and am considering UVA(probably regular decision). I will be a senior when the summer starts and am a virginia state resident.

gpa: 4.0(unweighted. My old school didn't have ap's, but I tried my best with course selection. My new school for my senior year has tons of ap's, so im doing 4.)
rank(old school): 7 out of 132
SAT: V:650 M:680 W:660
SATII: haven't taken yet.
ec's:I don't have craploads of stuff, but am the captain of the golf team, and did start a video game club with my friend at school. I'm not sure if the video game club means anything though. Also chess club, 30 hrs. volunteer service. National Honor Society(this one's crap in my school though:() Those are the most important to me.

Well I think that's about all I can provide for now. I'm thinking the responses for W and M would be about the same as UVA's, but am curious. Thanks for taking the time to read through my post!!!

since ur in-state you probably haven ok shot of getting in.. nothing will wow the admissions committee... if you were out of state you wouldn't get in but the fact that ur a VA resident will give u a better shot

Your (current) tough class load and good SATs will serve you well. I would not be surprised if the Adcom calls your new school guidance counsellor later this fall to see how you're doing in the APs. Don't slack off.

I started to say that you should ditch the video game club. It's frivolous, and it seems like you're padding your ECs. On the other hand, I'm guessing that this will be a rarity for the readers, it might cause the Adcom to chuckle, and--provided everything else is strong--it will make you 'different'. How much risk are you willing to take? It would depend on how you worded it.

Without the video game club, keeping your 4.0 in AP classes, I'd say you were near 80%.

I'd ssay raise your sat's and you'd have a good shot

id say ur in. uva puts more emphasis on GPA. with that 4.0 unweighted, your mostly in.
raising ur sat isnt a bad idea, but i dont think its necessary. just take ur sat 2s

Thanks for the responses. Maybe the video game club thing looks like I'm padding ec's, but hey I truly enjoy video games(who doesn't?). I'm definately applying uva, and I was just wondering where I stood. Will I improve my chances if I go early decision? I was orignially planning on going ed at William and Mary, but after visiting uva the decision became tougher.

yea u would increase ur chances

applying ED won't really help your chances much, the acceptance rates for ED and RD are very close.

regular = 37%
early = 42%

this is the average of instate and out fo state

remember though the easrly pool is generally a bit stronger, so standards don't really go down for early.... but it should help a bit
