hey i was wondering if anyone could give me some input for my chances at UVA for next year.
I'm a girl living in NOVA, not a minority (not white either), brother went there, i plan on early decision.
3.9 weighted after junior year
sat I: 620 V i'm guessing at least 730 math and 700 W (all from 2 testings)
sat II: 650 bio, 670 us history (I didn't do as well as i hoped)
3 aps junior year, 4 senior year (but i'll take five exams b/c of comp. govt.)
i'm guessing 3 in ap u.s. hist exam, 4 in psych, 5 in bio but i'm not sure
i'll get good recommendations. my essays i'm hoping will be good.
some involvement in school like NHS, SHS, International Night, 2 clubs (one of which i'm treasurer), Varsity math league.
Outside of school i've got martial arts, dancing, and an instrument, and hospital volunteering.
Thinking about applying to engineering school

It looks like you've got a pretty good chance. Your stats are pretty good, you've got family there, and you're in-state. Then again, a lot of NOVA kids have very similar stats. There's no guarantees, but I'd definitely go for it.

anyone else like to share their input?
thanks

Yea, i think you're fine, especially if you're instate. You sound like the typical UVA instate kid if not better.

She lives in NOVA which is harder than other instate areas. The avg from my school is about 4.0 weighted or around a 3.8 unweighted with a 1350 or 1360 avg SAT.

It looks like you are right in the average so I'd think you are fine. It will most probably come down to: 1. How many other NOVA kids apply 2. What their stats are and 3. Your essays and E.C.'s

Considering 1 + 2 are out of your control, work on number three A LOT.

Good luck.

hey are you from Mclean?

No, Fairfax.

does anyone else have anything to say about my chances or suggestions?
my ap scores were actually 4's in history, bio, and psych.
sat was actually: 740 math, 620 CR, 670 W. The rest of my information is at the top.

You had a relative in UVa. Princeton Review lists alumini relations as a "Very Important" factor for UVa. Plus I looked at Early Decision applicants from our school to UVa and 2 people, both with less than 1300 and GPA's slightly above 3.7, got in. Early Decision pool is also usually lower quality than regular. I am giving an 80% chance of a match especially because of your GPA.
