Chances at UW-Madison

3.34 GPA, Unweighted, I'm ranked in the 40th percentile of my school (199/464). Which is unreal, but that's the way it is. I do have a C on my transcript in Algebra II, however I'm retaking the class and I currently have an "A", so my GPA will rise. My school doesn't wieght classes.

I have taken all honors/AP courses.

My other downfall is my below average ACT- 24

Now for the good news.......

I was selected by teachers and guidance for participate in Badger Boys state, which is a leadership and Government simulation camp. This is HUGE for INSTATE students.

EC's
Jazz Band (10th,11th,12th) - Highest award in state competation.
Tennis (all four years) - Team Captain, as well as Sportsmanship award.
Active Volunteer at Boys and Girls Club
Vice President of School's Republican Club
Active Member of Church
National Honors Society
Member of Math Club
Job (Two years)

My recomendations are fantastic, I have My AP American Studies teacher, Spanish 5 Teacher, and Guidance Counselor.

Are you in state? If so, you could transfer in after a year or two. But the medians are 3.7 unweighted GPA and 28 ACT, 90th percentile, so...

You don't even deserve to get into UW if you don't even know the system. First of all, 199 out of 464 is not 40th percentile, it is almost 60th. Second, 24 is above average for the ACT. Third, your so-called EC's are incredibly vague, i.e. "Job" and "Active Member of Church". I don't want to sound overly critical, but you have to reevaluate your standing and try to make yourself look as good as possible. Retake the ACT definitely (assuming you think you can do better than 24) and try and see if the C could get erased (I have heard of kids retaking a class and getting original grades slashed).

I'm in the top 40th percentile.... sorry for the mistake.....
