Four years of Varsity Tennis.

What are my chances at:
UVA
W+M (i'll just throw it in for kicks...think i've got a shot for spring?)
American
GW
Georgetown
Miami OH
University of Mary Washington
University of Richmond
James Madison University
UCB
UCLA
Emory
Pepperdine

Please help me out....throw in "accepted/rejected" if you'd like...

UVA - Accepted (in-state)
W+M - Rejected (if you do nothing about your deferral)
American - Accepted
GW - Accepted
Georgetown - Rejected
Miami OH - Accepted
University of Mary Washington - Accepted
University of Richmond - Accepted
James Madison University - Accepted
UCB - Rejected
UCLA - Accepted
Emory - ??
Pepperdine - Accepted

If that is your official rank, then admissions will be difficult at many schools unless you have a hook.

UVA 20-35%
W+M 20-30%
American - Accepted
GW - Accepted
Georgetown 10-25%
Miami OH - Accepted
University of Mary Washington - Accepted
University of Richmond - Accepted
James Madison University - Accepted
UCB 0-5% - UC's take rank VERY seriously,
UCLA 0-7% - UC's take rank VERY seriously,
Emory - 10-30%
Pepperdine - Accepted

I was hoping that my church involvement would be a major hook for William and Mary. 3 out of the last 4 that held my position have gone there and until the mid 1800s almost every President of the College was the bishop of my diocese.

There is still a really strong connection between W+M and the church. The first Episcopal Church in the United States is right down the street. When I went for an interview, the admissions person identified my cross as representing my Presidency. They seem to know that its a HUGE time committment. Hopefully it'll help me out.

Also, I should jump up to about #40 after the first semester. My grades are good and a lot of others are slipping.

Buffithemaster: what do you suggest I do about my defferal? What can I do?

Any other thoughts?

Ok. You're probably in a better position to judge your ECs and hooks. Then in that case, you would have a much better shot at WM and UVA, I think.

You have a good shot at all of those schools except the UC's.

Might want to try Trinity and Holy Cross. HC is a Jesuit School like Georgetown recruits stidents of all faiths. Holy Cross is SAT optional with Jan.15th deadline. Location isn't bad-1 hour from Boston, while Trinity is in Hartford.

mary wash, u of r, jmu are definately yes
uva maybe
georgetown - i dont think so

dont know much about the other schools

bump.........

UCB/UCLA: Reach (OOS)

atdiemokid:

UCB/UCLA: Slight Reach (out of state)

Creigh Deeds For Attorney General.

Sadly Creigh didn't pull off the win. The news just came to me about two hours ago from campaign hq.

Hopefully, we'll see a Creigh Deeds v. George Allen US Senate race this year, though I doubt it will happen.

one more bump...anyone else wanna help me out...?

Buffithemaster: what do you suggest I do about my defferal? What can I do?

Send additonal SAT scores, have a good mid-year report, have your counselor place a call, send them an additonal rec or two, notify them that W and M is still your first choice college, etc.

check out the article on the front page about 'one mother's deferral saga.' best of luck.
