I am currently a junior in high school. I was lazy and got relatively poor grades my freshman and sophomore years. Currently, my unweighted GPA is 3.0, and my weighted GPA is about 3.6. I am in Honors and AP classes, and have not yet taken the ACT/SAT. However, I am from a highly competitive high school in Illinois, and Vanderbilt has been known to admit lots of students from my school. What can I do from now to the beginning of next year such that I would have a shot at admission?

I think that you need to bring up your GPA since many of the people at vandy have at least a 3.75+ I think. Try to improve your grades and really just focus on that and the SAT/ACT because this is the most important year! If you’re able to do really well this semester, that upward trend will look amazing. Good luck

Thanks for the reply! Hopefully I can get a competitive score on the ACT…
