If my chances aren't good, remember i'm a junior so any advice to improve my chances senior year would be great. Thanks.

Also if it helps I am ranked 1/686 kids at my school.

Do you live in California? If you do, you should be in at UCLA and all the other schools easily, no matter where you live. Duke might be the hardest for you but being an URM valedictorian is amazing. What type of debate you do?

You’ve got academics, leadership, extracurriculars, and service down pretty well. If you did well on your AP tests, do well on SAT/ACT, you should be fine. Oh, also, you might want to take some SAT II’s sometime at the end of the year. I would recommend you take them in the subjects you took AP classes in if you haven’t taken them already. A few miscellaneous competitions would help as well. Since you’re a good writer, you might want to look into essay contests to boost your app some more.
UDubb: basically guaranteed
UCLA: close reach
Vanderbilt: reach
Duke: far reach

I think you have a good shot at UCLA if you bring up your SAT. But the whole URM thing makes more a difference at privates. Keep up your gpa, raise your ACT or SAT, do well on subject tests, etc. I think you might hv a shot at some more selective private schools if you get high test scores

Thanks a lot for all the advice. I live in Oregon and I like to do LD debate which is what I qualified to Nationals in. But I also enjoy doing many individual events. Any other help would be great too. Also would doing summer programs like Brown help?
