Chances at Vanderbilt, Pomona, USC, UMich, UMiami

I'm the Arkansan African American. If my stats seem different, it's involuntary, but these are from a database I saved them on, they should be almost exactly the same as they've always been. I've got a lot of work to do, and won't be able to come here nearly as often as I'd like, if at all. For that reason, I wanted a last chance evaluation of the schools I'm looking at more closely. I appreciate the help of all of you, and hope you go on to excel or continue to excel.

And you all know the story, Arkansas/African American.

What are my chances at the following schools?:

Vanderbilt
Pomona
University of Southern California
University of Michigan
University of Miami

You seem to have competitive stats, keep up the hard work, and I believe you can get in to all the schools you listed. Admissions are a funny animal these days. SAT scores are considered strongly, as are essays, GPAs in the context of courseload rigor, class rank, recs and ECs. You are definitely on the right track!

i think you have a chance at all those colleges!
vanderbilts a bit of a reach tho

excellent awards
good ECs
class rank...a little low
but gpa and sat are pretty good
plus, you are an URC

Oh, thanks. Ouch . . . I guess I should have paid more attention to my rank. It's just weird finding my rank's considered in the context of where I am in the top decile, rather than overall.

your rank is fine.

Other opinions? Eh?

Murasaki, why Pomona? You have all these research universities, and then you have a smallish liberal arts college.

I think you can get into all of them but Pomona would definitely be the hardest to get into, it's a great school. Keep getting the best grades possible.

It's a mixture of me wanting a tiny bit of variety in the colleges I can attend, in the off chance that I'm accepted to a variety of them. Pomona does it for me in terms of atmosphere, though, it's one of my favorites.

But then again, I might revise that list. Does anyone know which GPA would match what college?

Or just any other opinions.

. . Or just leave me hangin'.

I think you are in at all of them, with a slight chance of not getting into Vanderbilt, but probably will.

You have great stats. I would say in at all those colleges you picked. You really should include some reaches though because admission is unpredicatable.

My reaches are Cornell, Columbia and Stanford (cause lets face it, I probably won't get into Stanford). Thank you, by the way.

I'll try to keep this thread alive just once more.

Wait, this time I have another valid question. I was originally gung-ho and wanted to apply ED to Cornell, but now I'm considering USC, meaning I'd just apply EA and RD to everywhere. Is it too risky for me to assume I can get into USC?
