Chances at Vanderbilt, Rochester, Boston University, and others

I'm a Pakistani Male and go to a competitive public school in Arizona, top 1000 in the country, we send about 10 total to the ivy leagues each year.

SAT 1: 640 Critical Reading, 710 Math, 740 Writing (2090 total)
SAT 2's: 600 US History, 590 Math IIC (bad academic year last year led to insufficient preparation...I know there's no excuse).
Rank: top 30%. My low GPA has killed me.

My recommendations should be outstanding, especially the one from my counselor. The school website I've built has gained me recognition among the faculty as well as my peers. I'm worried about my GPA..and I don't have that great of a SAT, so I'm hoping the recs will at least come close to offsetting those 2.

What are my chances at:

Vanderbilt
Rochester
Boston University

Also, could anyone suggest a few safeties for me?

Maybe to BU, Roch
Yes to Northeastern, Wheaton

good lcuk!

Thanks, jjchase. Anyone else?

Accepted- BU, Wheaton, Northeastern
Rejected- Vandy, Tufts

Roch: I personally think you'll get in, but I don't have the confidence to call it an acceptance

rocafelton, if I applied ED2 to Vandy would I have even a slight chance?

Also i've decided i'm no longer applying to Tufts. I've chosen Boston College instead (in addition to BU)

Thanks for the PM! It feels great, that's right. As for the schools on your list...I think you'll get into all but Vandy and Tufts. As other's said your class rank isn't great, however you have a medical excuse. I would advise you to retake the SAT's try some SAT II's if there's time. Good Luck to you in the application process!
