thanks

That’s great that you have a letter of rec from the Dean, but your SAT is extremely low for Vanderbilt. However, I would say you might have a chance. But if you’re from California, I would advise against Vanderbilt. A lot of my California friends hate it here just because the culture here is so different from west coast culture.

is there time to retake the SAT or ACT?

even if you don’t get in ED, you can always apply next year as a transfer

I agree with ojsenga…your SATs are low for Vanderbilt. You never know what will happen in admissions but make sure you have viable backups…and Vandy is very interested in raising its profile so is actively recruiting students with high GPAs and SAT/ACTs.

This student applied ED1 - so he should have his answer by now. I wonder if he was accepted.

must not have gotten in…he posted that he got a D this fall…so that would pretty much rule Vandy out…wish him luck in his current apps at UCs

can you guys chance me please?

I applied regular decision.
Class Rank: 1/700
GPA: Weighted 5.55/6.00 UW: 3.97/4.00
ACT: 29
Community service: 200+

Leadership:
NHS- House Leader
Mu Alpha Theta- Secretary
Botany Club- President
Quiz Bowl- Leader

Honors:
I was a Spring 2012 Scholar for the National Youth Leadership Forum.
In 2010, I received the National Science Merit Award through the United States Achievement Academy.
Ranked 2nd in districts Quiz Bowl
AP Scholar with distinction

Essay: Good, I think
Recs: Average

Hook: Low income/job to compensate EC

Took 15 AP courses and 10 college courses. Got 4s and 5s on all AP classes

Senior course load: 5 APs

Your ACT is really low, so I think you’re at a serious disadvantage even with that GPA. Your leadership is pretty good, so it’s still a flip of a coin.

Bump. Bump.

I agree, the ACT score is rather low for Vandy. I know we are sweating it out waiting and S has a 33 ACT, loads of leadership and EC and a part time job.

But no one knows what the admission staff actually use. There maybe something extra on your app that catches their eye. Good luck.

bump bump :D

Not accepted

How did you get your decision already?

His first post indicated he applied Early Decision, so he got his decision quite awhile ago.
