I'm a high school junior wondering what my chances are at Vassar, Ithaca, Muhlenberg, Skidmore, and Emerson (as a Theatre BA)
I'm a caucasian female from a private school in suburban Massachusetts.

I'm incredibly passionate and driven about theatre, my priority art form. I'm aware that I want to go in majoring in theatre and taking advantage of all the opportunities the school offers.

GPA: 3.5. I go to a school that is solidly anti-competition, so my GPA could not be higher than a 4.0 at best. There are also no class ranks or chances for academic awards.

SAT: 2120 (740 CR, 740 Wr, 640 math)

EC'S: Every theatre production my school has offered, almost all of which I've had starring roles in. Also, community theatre, where I've also done well.
Directed two shows at school, set to direct two more by the time I graduate.
Written a show that was performed at my school.
Acting and improv courses and training since freshman year
Private voice lessons since freshman year
Jazz, tap, modern, and lyrical dance training since freshman year.
I've been in my school's a capella group since freshman year and am set to run the group next year.
Writer and editor for my school's literary magazine
Vice president of my school's Feminist Coalition
Volunteer at a local community theatre- I teach improv to young children, usher shows, answer phones, and the like.
I also volunteer at a local women's legal center.
Participate in writing classes at a writing center in Boston, and have had things published in their literary magazine.
Two prior summer theatre intensives at Brown and Berklee College of Music. Planning to do another this summer at USC, which offers college credit.

I have some great people to write me letters of recommendation, but no connections.

I’m not a huge help, not very knowledgeable about these colleges. However I am friends with a student who got into Skidmore with very similar stats but none of the ECs. Honestly your ECs show a huge amount of passion (and talent) that I think is going to really impress colleges. And your academic scores aren’t exactly shabby either, especially if your school is as rigorous as you say.
Good luck!

You have a lot of great EC’s that I’m sure that they would look at. most of the colleges you mentioned have lower acceptance rates.
Vassar-23%
Ithaca-68%
Muhlenberg-43%
Skidmore-42%
Emerson-48%
I’d say that you’d have a pretty good chance with this list. They all seem probable, but Vassar seems like a reach, but still possible!
Don’t give up and best of luck!

If you are really interested in the theater program at Muhlenberg, I suggest you make the official visit. Sit through the talk, do the tour, meet with Charlie and audition. Your statistics and ec’s would make you a very strong candidate and if you show them you are really interested in attending (by doing all the above) I would say you are a strong candidate. Best of luck.

Everything aside from Vassar is a match. And Ithaca is a safety. As for other safeties, have you looked at Ursinus? It would be a great fit. Very artsy.
