I have a 3.4 unweighted GPA, a pretty tough schedule all four years, and 500CR / 670 M / 580 Writing on the SAT (1170 CR+M). I'm ranked top 20% and have a fair amount of ECs... the Virginia Tech website says that "applicants who have a B+ average or better are more likely to be offered admission." and "We do not require a minimum score, but the middle range of students enrolled is 1120 to 1280 (combined score of the math & critical reading sections)." which is right around where I fall. Is it save to say I have a decent chance? Out of state of couse.

i think it's bad b/c tech is like one of those GPA based schools or SAt based depends. ur GPA is a big problem i think. At my school i think they "u need a 3.8" and i live in VA so in state

It says B+ on the site (which 3.4 is), is that in state or does that mean nothing?

You have a fair shot. The website, I would assume, factors in both in-state and out of state scores so you are going to have a much tougher time than say someone from Virginia would. The best I can say is knock them out with the essay and hope for the best.
