Hi everyone so I applied to virginia tech for general engineering and penn state for engineering science and was just wondering what my chances are for each. I definitely think I have enough activities and my essays were pretty okay (I’m not the best writer).
UW GPA: 3.7
ACT: 29 (28 English, 32 math, 29 reading, 26 science).
Ok thanks!!
My son was accepted to both last year. He attends Penn state.
His GPA was similar or same or slightly above (i do not remember exactly) and his ACT was 30.
Oh, Virginia tech gave him some merit aid.
What’s your class rank?
@anadash345–wish you best of luck. Your stats sound competitive base on what VT posts as its “freshman profilt.e” I am sure you know that having Plans B, C, and D are best though–who know what really happens behind the scenes at University admissions offices?
In 2014, my son applied to both VT Engineering and Penn State Engineering (and Ohio State Engineering). He was accepted into Penn State, and Ohio State, but deferred (after Early Decision) from VT. His GPA is 3.7 and 1350 CR/M. We are waiting to see if he gets into VT. If not, he will probably attend Ohio State. We live in Virginia; so, VT would be a lot cheaper. Best to you.
