Chances at Virginia Tech

Virginia tech is one of my top schools and I really want to get in.

GPA: 4.02 (weighted)
SAT:1140 (I am taking it again)
Major: food nutrition and wellness

I took all IB and AP classes last year and have taken at least one AP class every year of high school and the rest were honors classes. I am also in the top 10% of my class.

My extracurriculars include a lot of sports and beta as well as student council.

What are my chances of acceptance and is there anything at this point I can do to better my chances?

Are you in or out of state? If you want to strengthen your odds, apply ED - yes, they have it. It can help you.

You’re probably on the outside looking in. Do you have a hook like first generation ? Residence. Legacy? These help at Va Tech.

I’d probably go TO unless you get your SAT up.

Here’s the thing - don’t fall in love. period. Anywhere. So you certainly have a shot with the 4 GPA. And your major is ok - i.e. not engineering.

If you’re in state, look at JMU and CNU too. If you want to be in the area, look at UTK - you’ll get in. Or for rural, you might add Ohio U and Miami of Ohio to your list and Marshall as well.

I hope you get in - but cover your bases.

I am in state and I’m also planning to apply early decision. I unfortunately don’t have any legacy or anything like that. I have some other schools I will be applying to including a few safety schools.

Then it will all work out. Don’t fall in love with anywhere - and find several you like - and you’ll have wonderful options.

Put together the best you - essay, extra curriculars, etc. And you 'll end up in a wonderful place, Va Tech or otherwise.
