Chances at W&M?

Everyone needs a little boost around this time of year. Hopefully at least one other person will think I have a chance, because this is my dream school! I'm worried because I don't live in VA.

My Stats:

GPA, UW:3.79 W:4.07 90-100 A scale

Rank: top 15% (don't know specific rank yet) in a class of 450

SAT I: M650, R750, W770 SAT II:US680, LIT760

Currently taking AP Psych, AP Euro, and AP Lit

Midyear grades were some of my best grades on my transcript

Newspaper editor (personally won statewide writing award, and the newspaper is also award-winning in the state)
Student Council vice president
Model UN delegate (won several best delegate awards in my first and only year as a delegate)
NHS
Band (most improved award)
Chorus (including an outside choir, varsity letter, most improved award)
Countywide youth commission (a jr. version of the board of commissioners)
Several honors from my school for being an involved student

Glowing rec from W&M alum who is an administrator at my school

Awesome essay (it actually made several teachers and my parents cry) and optional essay

Did optional interview over the summer on campus, which is difficult considering I live in GA (hopefully that showed my interest)

Response is greatly appreciated. Good luck with admissions everyone! It's almost over!

hmm...i'm not sure. if you were in-state i'd think that you would have a pretty good shot. for out-of-state applicants they look for stats that are close to ivy league level, but you never know. you have good ECs and the awesome essay will help. i think you've got a shot, though i can't really be sure. good luck though!

I think top 15% + Out of state will kill your chances.

It's a reach.

Not to make an excuse, but I feel I should have maybe explained this a little better. I go to a supercompetitive school where everyone in the top 10% has a numeric average over 100... in other words they're near suicidal. Hopefully that would be explained on the Counselor Rec.

Yeah, my school is the same way. For example, my friend with a 4.2/4.0 isn't in the top 25%. It's rediculous.

It will be tough since you're out of state. It's worth a try though.

I got into W&M OOS, but UMD offered me spring semester in state.
My stats are as follows:
Gender/Race:White/Male
Rank: 9/298
SAT:680V 710M 650W 2040 total
ECs- Varsity lacrosse and band
Both parents legacies of W&M so I think that was the factor..
