Hi,
I’m Aravind. I’m an international student applying from India to WFU.
I want to know my chances at getting one of the several scholarships at WFU.
My SAT scores aren’t the best, but I’ve got a decent GPA.

My entire high school revolved around leadership and community service. I've won several national ad international awards for these skills. Do you think that would make the cut for merit aid?

Morning @aravindsk, wonderful to see your interest in Wake. As an international student who went there a while ago, I’m glad to see increasing interest in the country. When I was there, there were not a super high number of Indian students, but that number may have increased-you can try to contact the admissions office to see if there are current students you might chat with. Regarding acceptance and/or scholarship (you should know scholarship is competitive and last I knew, somewhat rare for international students): you should be applying early, definitely before December 1, make sure you register and conduct an interview with them (you can do it via skype). Wake is a personal place which seeks matches. If you want to be accepted/scholarship, make a case for why you think Wake (not in a major US city, not in the top 15) is where you will choose to go if they take you. Demonstrate why you think Wake will make you a better student and give you success and they may a) accept you and b) give you some scholarship. Good luck!

Thank you for your feedback! Yes, I’ve visited Wake and the summer academy I was a part of, is very close to Wake and works with the University quite a lot. So yes, I think that’ll help show my interest. Did you qualify for any scholarships?

I also had US citizenship so not sure my personal experience is helpful, and, as I mentioned, it was a long time ago… hard to believe, but true!
