Chances at WCAS RD for proposed Music/WCAS Double Major???

White Male from California

Overall GPA
3.7 UW
3.9 W (6 semesters)

School doesn't rank, but I am in 10%-20% Decile
(An extremely competitive high school, consistently ranked around top 50 in the nation. Roughly 20 % attend UC Berkeley, UCLA, Stanford, MIT, or Ivy League Schools)

Freshman Year 3.56/3.56
Sophomore Year 3.68/3.93
Junior Year 3.85/4.2
Senior Year 4.0/4.6 (I know it seems silly that I am "predicting", but I will go to all ends to make SURE this happens!)

From my Freshman to Junior year I took the most advanced courses offered at my school (except second-tier science in junior year, only 3 years of German)

I plan to Double Major in Vocal Performance and Economics

SAT:
Math: 760
Critical Reading: 740
Writing: 600(Northwestern omits writing score!!! yayuh)

SAT II:
US History: 760
Biology M: 730
Math IIC: 770 (I got this on a practice test, I am shooting for an 800 when I take the real test in November)

Extracurriculars:

4 years Cross Country (3 varsity) Team Captain
4 Years Track (3 Varsity)

I will have an audition for the school of music for a degree in Vocal Performance. I have won a few prestigious vocal competitions, I am the Bass section leader in my school Choir, I am (or was) a member of a number of Honor Choirs. I am also a member of an organization the puts on operas performed by high schoolers and a few college students. In the upcoming production, The Marriage of Figaro, I have the title role. My voice instructor claims I could receive a musical scholarship at many universities.

Recommendations should be good.

Essays should be very good and even quite inspiring on the subject matter, as well.

please, someone?

does NU really omit the writting section of the SATI??? if it is, screw the ACT then ha

I would say you have a pretty good chance, you should apply ED. also, have you taken any AP exams?

you should apply to the school of music, not wcas.

io9473541: Yeah I took APUSH, and I got a 5.

Andrew_VB: Why not WCAS? What is wrong with applying to both?

b_hand: I am class of 2011 and a student of the 5-year double degree program in WCAS and the school of music. You should definitely apply to the double degree program if you are sure you want to continue music & another study in college. Hm...from your stats, I'd suggest you apply ED, if you don't have any financial issues.

because it's hard to transfer into the school of music. basically, it's easy to double major at nu, but you can only double major in wcas and a specialized school. it's best to apply to the specialized school and major so you get into that program and since everyone takes classes through wcas too, you're already in, so you can easily tack on that extra major.

Would WCAS admissions take consideration of my musical abilities? In other words, would they be less likely to reject me if the school of music belives that I am scholarship material? (if you get rejected from either school, you get reject from the whole double-degree program altogether, right?)
