I'll probably major in either Political Science or Pre-Law, and I think I've established my interest in that field of study through my extra-curricular activities. Well, anyway, right now, I'm really interested in Wellesley and I'm entertaining the idea of applying to Wellesley early decision to increase my chances at admission.

Please help me out... Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Your class rank may hurt.

Don't take this the wrong way...you're a terrific applicant but Amherst gets lots of terrific applicants. The breadth of your EC's may help but even the EC's are "standard," if you know what I mean.

I think you have a reasonable chance...but would have some Safeties as well.

Compare yourself with the average admitted student of 2002.

Also pay close attention to the snapshot box:

Early Decision Admissions 61%
Early Evaluation 49%

If you can make a commitment, the rates of acceptance become trivial for a selective school. Few selective schools are as generous as Wellesley for early admissions.

How much do I need to before I become a strong contender?
