Wellesley is a big stretch but I think the fact that you write for a magaizine in Egypt really makes you stand out. Do you think you could bring up your SAT II's? Maybe you should try and take the ACT?

How far is a 'big stretch'? do i hav like no chance or a 50 % chance? thanx 4 the advice btw

You will need to get all of the SATs out of the 500s.

is that all? wat else can I do? wat kind of essays are they looking 4?

PLEASE help u guys...i desperately need feedback!!

Wellesley is a high reach for you. If you want a LAC, consider others that fit your stats better. Sometimes low SAT scores are offset by a strong academic performance in school. This is not the case. I believe you would be rejected ED also. If you are a URM, your stats might be a match.

Although BU might be easier to gain acceptance, I would not count on it either since once gain your stats are well below the average. Perhaps BU is a high match/low reach, which might be a possibility with early decision. If you like Boston, consider Northeastern.

If you like Wellesley, Smith and Holyoke would be less of a reach, although still reaches.

I'm afraid your GPA and test scores are significantly lower than the 50%ile for Wellesley making it quite a reach unless you have a well-defined hook. That doesn't mean you shouldn't apply, but don't expect to get in so you can be surprised if you do. Look at some of the other women's and liberal arts schools that have programs similar to those that you liked at Wellesley and I'm sure you'll find some matches and safeties that would make you happy.

wat's a LAC and a URM?

LAC = liberal arts college
URM = underrepresented minority

is there anything i can do that will higher my chances? wat kind of essays are they looking 4?
wat about in the interview?

sarah, the mid 50% SAT scores on the old SAT were Verbal: 630 – 730, Math: 630 – 720, Combined: 1260 – 1450 which probably corresponds to 1890 to 2190 on the new. You would need to get your SAT I to here and your SAT II's all over 600, preferably into the 680 to 700 range. Also, 75% of their admitted class comes from the top 10% of their high school graduating class. This is what you are up against. I, frankly, think you would be better off finding a better match that you love.

Big, big, big reach. Aside from your SAT scores, your GPA is far too low.

Among the Seven Sisters, Mount Holyoke would probably be your best shot, but it's still a reach. If you want women's colleges, some matches and safety schools might be:

Mills College (match)
St. Joseph College (safety)
Scripps College (reach, but better one than Wellesley)
Agnes Scott College (match)
Brenau University (safety)
Trinity University in D.C. (big, big safety)
Simmons College (match)
Russell Sage College (safety)
Cedar Crest College (safety)
Chatham College (safety, maybe match)
Hollins University (match)
Randolph-Macon Woman's College (match)
Sweet Briar College (match, and you'd love their equestrian program)

RPI is definitely a reach, and Boston University is as well. UCSB might consider you since you're in-state, but are you looking at UCs like Irvine, Santa Cruz, and Riverside as well? I think you'd have a better shot at one of those.

What do you plan on studying?

how is RPI a reach? it accepts 75% of its applicants...who hav an average 3.33 GPA...plus, i think its a match 4 me since my dad went there..
oh, and doesn't bu hav a 67% acceptance rate?

You can't just look at GPA and acceptance rate. For any technology school, you're going to need a high math score, which you do not have. RPI's middle 50% on SAT I math is 640-730. Having a low Math IIC score will hurt you even more, because it shows that higher-level math is even more of a challenge for you.

Also, I have no idea where you got the impression BU accepts 67% of its applicants. BU accepts 55%, and the students they do accept come in with excellent high school records and SAT scores.

Really, what's your intended major? Maybe we can help you find some better fits.

business...or possibly political science...not sure yet..
but thnaks 4 the feedback:)

oh, and btw, rpi only asks 4 the sat I...no two's

do i hav more of a chance @ george washington university? or is that still a far reach?

I hate to say this, but I think you should lower your standards and find some good safeties. It is true that grades and SATs aren't the only determining factors in admission to private colleges, but they certainly are the first things a college looks at. Wellesley generally goes for girls with a high A minus average (not sure about their SATs). Every college expects you to meet some kind of standard, and quite frankly you don't meet Wellesley's. GW is also a reach, but not if you apply early because their acceptance rate for ED is very high (you should only do that if you want to go there and nowhere else).
Another thing: BU is not as easy to get into as it used to be. With a 3.7 and a 1330 I was admitted to some very selective private colleges but not BU (waitlist). Its acceptance rate is probably more like 35-40%.
