SAT II: Math 2 - 800
US History - 760
Biology (M) - 730

AP Tests: English (Lang) - 5

AP Lit & Composition
AP Chemistry
AP Biology
AP US History
3 years of Honors Spanish, ending with Honors Spanish IV my junior year

Due to scheduling conflicts I was unable to take AP Spanish V my senior year... will this hurt me if I had no other way to take the class? Other AP classes were slotted for the only time period that AP Spanish V was available...

PSAT: 221, National Merit Semi-Finalist, hopefully Finalist!

White Male
From Detroit-area, Michigan
No legacy
Arabic-heritage... not sure if this means much anywhere

Pretty good essays... also did the optional Penn Supplement essay, which I believe was very well-written.

Primary extracurriculars:
-Lifeguard past 2 summers at local park
-Swim coach at local park last summer
-Middle school swim coach
-Meals on Wheels Area Coordinator, working 3 hours per week delivering meals to the elderly while recruiting and organizing student volunteers throughout the area and assigning them routes and dates for service
-Student Government
-National Honors Society, officer (leadership position)
-Piano since I was 6
-Varsity Swimming, 4 year letter-winner, Team Captain, State Finalist
-10 Years with summer swim team, 2-time team captain, League Champion multiple times
-Math tutor, among other tutoring and volunteer opportunities
-Special Needs Swimming Instructor, working with disabled children giving swim lessons
-Investment Club Officer (leadership position)
-Multiple other clubs (Spanish Club, Impact Club, Student-Athlete Leadership Club, etc)
-Organizing fundraiser to fund the distribution of dental health care packages to the senior citizens who receive Meals on Wheels. This project is important to me and it displays my ability to identify a concern in the community and address it in a practical manner.
-Hospital Volunteer past 2 years

Among other extracurriculars...

I intend on going into the Health Care Management field... and my essays reflect a combined interest in medicine and business, which ties in due to my involvement with community service and the elderly, as well as my job as a swim coach and lifeguard which I am very passionate about. On top of my required recommendations, I have a letter of recommendation from the CEO of a prestigious health care management company which manages hospitals throughout the Midwest such as Beaumont, Cottage, and St. John's. I am hoping that my unique interest in health care may be a good spin-off, whereas many other applicants are interested merely in finance or management, etc.

If you don't have a chance, I don't know who does.

What high school do you go to, Dearborn?

BTW, I'm also from Michigan.

I go to Lahser High School in Bloomfield Hills... how about you?
And thanks for the Chance!

great gpa, scores, and leadership
can't ask for more

you know the garrettsons?

I go to Traverse City Central.

this is weird.

Hah that is weird, but nope... no Garrettsons haha.
My cousin who goes to Grosse Pointe North is also applying to Penn.

Anybody have like a percentage chance of admission for me?

And question: is race really that big of a factor?
And will the "White Male" eventually become a minority? (Honest question)

I like your location in detroit, that you're captain of the swim team, and your grades/scores. of course, you are an unhooked wharton applicant. no unhooked wharton applicant can expect chances better than 50%. however, I give you a strong 35% chance. given that wharton admissions are a crapshoot, those are good odds.

Bumping. Chance would be greatly appreciated!

70% unless your essays suck, then 69%

nice profile man

Average Wharton applicant. 20%.

I was wondering if you got 36 hours a day..... Do you ever sleep at night??

I would say for U Penn, definitely. But for Harvard, risky... It seems to me that Harvard does not want tried-tooooooooo-hard students. Not to be critical, but when I read your CEs, it feels like you are trying to do as much as possible, but never got your heart into one of them. So I would say that the your essays are going to be very important. The swimming part and the piano part are really impressive.

Thanks for the input guys.

In response to the broad EC comment, I tried to write about my two passions, swimming and my service for older citizens, in my essays and tried to explain how these passions dictated most of my activities and interests. Do you think this will help tie together all of the EC's?

And nope, just 24 hours in my day... though there are times when it feels like more. I wish I had less right now so time would fly and we could get our decisions!

Bump. Anyone else?

2nd Bump in a row, eww. I'm gettin' anxious, any other opinions???

Dude, I know.

Just wait, there's nothing anyone can tell you. You're a strong candidate, but who knows if it means an acceptance letter. I mean, I wouldn't be surprised if it did.

This week is gonna suck.

No one can tell you "you're in" at this point.

Ya you guys are right... aggggggghh i just want to sleep thru this entire week and forget about everything
