Chances at William and mary?

I'm an out of state student, which I know is harder, but I'm also a guy, and I noticed they take a higher percentage. My main issue is class rank. I was 52nd in a good public school with 514, but I had a 3.82 unweighted, took hard courses, and got a 33 on my act, with a 32m, 35w, 33r, and 31s.
Likely candidate? I'm trying to decide whether or not to do early decision.

Some more info would be nice, like gpa and extra curricular activities. You’re more than just your numbers! And also if you’ve got a moment can you chance me back? :slight_smile: <a href=“Chance me for Bates and Franklin & Marshall - #2 by APsooof - Chance Me / Match Me! - College Confidential Forums”>Chance me for Bates and Franklin & Marshall - #2 by APsooof - Chance Me / Match Me! - College Confidential Forums;

Unweighted gpa is 3.82
Weighted gpa is 4.22

Extracurriculars wise, my main catch is that I’m wanting to major in government and I served as the communications staff in our schools young Americans for freedom club, in which I helped get congressman Pete sessions to come speak at my school. Besides that I volunteered at some stuff, but I don’t quite think any of it would bear a large impact

I would say write some great essays and have good recs and you will have a good shot. W&M is obviously much more difficult for oos (I will be applying there also). I would say early decision if it is for sure your number one

I’m not completely sure on that yet

Hi I was an OOS applicant also coincidentally considering government/international relations. One thing I can definitely testify about W&M admissions is that they really mean it when they sat that they are hollistic in admissions, definitely more so than other schools. This means everything will matter from your ECs, to your grades, to your essays (which imo was one of the strongest parts of my application). If you are not sure yet, consider visiting, talking to some current students (I’m currently incoming), or interviewing. Everyone there is really friendly. Are finances an issue? Although I love W&M I would be cautious about applying ED as an OOS applicant if that is the case.

Anyways, I wish you the best of luck and if you have any questions I should be starting school in a month or so so let me know. Hope to see you in the tribe!
